    :frusty:

Hooked into an absolute beast of a largemouth tonite...talking wall hanger size

I was flipping a worm around the bank and something kept playing with it and then all of a sudden BAM running hard

He hit it, and headed straight for the surface...broke top water about the time I was trying to flip the switch to let him run

He popped my 8lb test like it was nothing

    :frusty:

It all happened in the blink of an eye and I know...no pics didn't happen but FFFFFUUUUUUU

i always look at the rods and see what 3 lines it says. like my one rod says 8 10 and 12. and how many yards of each can be put on. i has 12 on it. i think i have 6 pound on my small rod. but i only use it for trout.

Just thought I would share my new perchase with eveyone: Orvis Helios 704-4 Fly rod. Should be here wed.. Totally psyched. The outage is over, and I have a day trip planned for next thurs or Fri with my new rod. Rod is originaly about $800, I got mine brand new from orvis for $400. Gonna find a spot i've been looking at on the chattooga for a few months now. Have to walk in about 2 miles to get there. I love to go where the corn chuckers don't!

I love my 2 ugly stick combos and my other 2 ugly stick rods

I have a 30 series and 40 series reels and various rod weights

For general use I'd go with the 6'6" and 35 series reel

Check bass pro for more combos in the same price range

The biggest thing I like about ugly sticks is the warranty on them and they guarantee them to be unbreakable

Anything Uglystik is good stuff. You will not be mad about that setup if you buy it.

I've always found them to be a good middle ground between high end expensive setups and cheap junk

I have had a shakespeare reel... (which doesnt have the lock for reverse anymore and I am constantly reeling in backwards.) on an UglyStik rod. I love the rod and I just need to get a new reel on that thing and I will be fishing it more often. The best thing is that it's a 2 piece rod and I take it on any of my vacations. Brought it to Florida and caught enough fish for the 3 days we were in FL.

I just bought a "Sturdy Stik". Its a Off Shore (or big game) version of the Ugly Stik. It has a ball bearing roller at the end and I paired that with a big Okhuma Bait Caster. I'm gonna throw some 65lb braid on that bitch and go catch Catfish Hunter

The reel is the shit! It has a bait clicker and line counter. I got the 2 items from Sportsmans Warehouse for $70 OTD... they were having a sale and thats a hell of a deal for some quality fishing equipment! I was checking out the G-Loomis rods and god damn....it looks like I'm gonna have to invest into another one. I'll pair it up with the Quantum Smoke reel.

My buddies and I are going down to the Dam Thursday night to catch some Flatheads. I wanna catch a fish that could potentially complicate my life lol!
