Broke out the short rods today and got them organized for the upcoming ice fishing season.

Nice setup.I have to do that with my rigs, make the pocket in the foam to hold reels.

Top rod looks like a 13 fishing tickle stick, those are awesome if you keep them safe.A couple guys I fish with broke theirs.I build my own rods, don't feel bad if ones gets hurt.Just an excuse to build more!

You would be correct. The top rod is a tickle stick. I like it, but I do have to be very careful with it.

I posted this in wrong thread... This is the right one...
so what tackle boxes do you guys use? I looked at some duffel bag style and they were bulky and heavy with nothing in them...I need to separate my fishing species as I carry too much random stuff. I need a dedicated one for three basic fish I go for. Pike, small and large mouth bass and crappie. I bought a double like this for my wife for Christmas. Im going to end up getting one for myself, as its light and has 2 sides with lots of storage.

I have something very similar to this.

    http://www.cabelas.com/product/fish...er-multi-tackle-backpack/1937606.uts?slotId=8

Its a cabelas brand that they probably haven't made in 10 years. I absolutely love it. While it isn't the biggest, it has room for just about everything I need to carry on any specific outing. It has space for 4 hard plastic trays. I have 6 or 7 which get rotated depending on what I'm fishing for. I have trays for shad raps, terminal tackle, spoons, jigs, other crankbaits, and a box of random stuff. The big top pouch holds all my soft plastics. The small top pouch holds tools/extra line, random stuff. Other pockets hold licenses, garbage, ect.

One of my problems with the double sided boxes like that is that both sides are very easy to crack if they get banged around. I've never broken anything inside my bag, and I am really tough on my gear. I've had my bag for about 14 years and I would buy something similar in a heartbeat when/if mine starts falling apart.

On another note, I went out and checked ice conditions on a couple lakes around my house before work today. 5" of good solid ice in the places I checked. Looks like I will be fishing tomorrow :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I saw one bigger but it was way too much. I do like the backpack style though. I didnt see that size at Cabelas just the big one.

Pulled in my first fish of the ice season. Not big but it's a start.
