My friend, you could not be more wrong! PA has more miles of wild trout water than many western states. Less than an hour north you have the lehigh valley with its abundant limestoners and a healthy population of some truly massive wild trout. 2 hours west near harrisburg you have spring creeks that rival the chalk streams of England. 3 hours west you have state college with penns creek and it tributaries. I am a fly fishing guide here in PA and I actually moved here specifically because of the states famed trout waters. I live in Schwenksville, very close to Hatfield If you need any help finding spots shoot me a message.

the lehigh river itself is an awesome musky fishery! must have been one hell of a big aggressive trout to hit a musky lure! I can t wait for the high water to subside so i can get out on the river after some esox. maybe ill see you out there. until then, tight lines bud!

the lehigh valley stocking association puts some Hawwwgs in the river there. carnivorous predators! i once had a small wild fish on and a huge brown trout came out of nowhere and t-boned it! i fought it for a but but it made away with the 8in trout on my line. crazy stuff! makes me want to throw musky flies for big trout.

I need it to not rain for a month or so. Since November, we’ve gotten 30” of rain. Over 9” this month alone. Rivers and creeks are constantly blown out. Makes it hard to do much fishing.

I know exactly where you are in that pic, I believe. Is there an old school bus on the left hand side very close to where you took that pic?

i don't recall the school bus, but just upstream from here there is a guy who lives on the river and thinks that section belongs to him. He has a massive sign that says no fishing while floating through his property! haha! I guess he knew this guy was lurking in the depths!

 there are a lot of those on the toccoa. I’ve had a lot of run ins with them. Had DNR called on me multiple times. Don’t you dare try to keep a fish, either. Those people will tell you their own them.

yeah I have little tolerance for this kind of behavior. We have a lot of it here in PA. I know my navigability rights and if the stream is deemed navigable, they don't own the water or the fish in it. depending on the state they may own the stream bed but so long as my anchor doesn't touch the bottom there isn't anything they can do. if I got yelled at by a salty landowner I would probably report them to the dnr as they are the ones engaging in illegal activity. gotta love drift boats! now that im looking at this map, the school bus sounds more familiar.

Yea Ga is a state where they own the land under the water to the halfway point. I had a few people that came out and pitched a fit. So, the next day, I floated it with a trolling motor so i could head back upstream and drift those particular stretches again. I don’t tolerate it. Most of the folks that do that here are transplants. Not from here, and think they’re better than us “native folks” here.

The side imaging is tricky to learn, but once you get it, it opens up a whole new world.

The side imaging will be black in the middle, that's your water column right under the boat. The bottom of the lake will look like a top down picture. It's kind of hard to explain quickly

ok...yeah I was messing with the display model at Cabelas yesterday, I know what you are saying now. It looks like that SI portion will look good with structure, make a split map with DI and it should be golden. also seemed very user friendly vs Humming bird.

That's funny because most of the people I met thought the humminbird was more user friendly. I worked at gander mountain for a couple years and the vast majority liked the birds

prob how my brain works...The humming bird; you had to scroll through all the pages to get to one item.

The Lowrance you push the page and the main screen pops up and you can toggle over to what map you want. Once you get in to the map you can tweak the settings.

Well I did a bit of impulse shopping online over the weekend. New spinning rod set up, a few bags of plastics, and more jerkbaits than I probably need.
