too lazy to post up in the various forums, so here it goes. right here with my fishing buds.

Friday, I played hooky from work. a new friend was offering to take me fishing on our kayaks. uncharted territory for me. the friggen Pacific Ocean. he chose a spot near him for fishing success, and more importantly (to me) an easy ocean entry and exit point. he didnt want me to go thru a washing machine affect of a surf launch, get flipped, lose all my gear, sell what I didnt, and take up golf.

the ocean is crazy. I think we got almost a mile of shore. felt like a mile. the swell was pounding, and thankfully I didnt puke myself. I managed to piss in the ocean without falling overboard. we would drop out baits 70 to 140 feet. the depth change wildly. snags were legit. they anchored me, and would teeter me to flipping. I broke off thankfully, but 5x. I was on my last sinker. we got fish. I got 5, he got 7. he let me bring home 10.

ocean fishing is nasty. everything has sand and salt. his car smelled like a fishes butthole. he said he is nose-blind to it. hahah..I was in my newer truck, so going home everything went out back. fuck it if it blew out. I still have remnants to that new truck smell!! maybe not anymore, because I smelled like a fish butthole. I was covered in slime and blood. I wore a dry suit, so that went in back. wedged under a box to not blow out.
    the knife:
I got good butchering fish. I use a Hon Deba for fish cleaning. a Japanese knife. I dont like fillet knives because I am not good with them. I waste too much meat. and my wife like eating whole fish. a fillet knife is never the right tool for that. after scrubbing all my gear, kayak, suit with soap, I cleaned a few fish and got to cooking. oh! some Taiwanese scissors are the way to cut off fish fins.
    the cooking:
I am born from Cantonese parents. I paid homage to my ancestors and did steamed whole fish. I grilled two smaller ones the next morning for breakfast. hahha..I did make toast.

its now Sunday, and I am still sore. i have jogged both sat and sun, but I jogged so slow.

I cant wait to try it again. fishing with my new friend felt like a one-time thing. he is a bit of a loner. but I will see him out on the waters for sure. he didnt invite me back. hahah.. I'll probably fish weekends to have more kayakers out there. Friday there was just us two. it was eerily lonely.
