I'm from around OBA, and if I was in town I would let you take my Pungo out for a spin and see what you think.

Fairhope Boat company has a great selection and they have demo days where you can try out all the models they carry. I believe they have a sister store in Pensacola (Pensacola Boat Company). I recommend either store, though I have only dealt with Fairhope Boat Company. They have great advice and have always helped me out or pointed me in the right direction if they don't have/carry what I need.

Got to also plug Coastal Outfitters in Spanish Fort for good fishing apparel, coolers, and supplies as well.

Now for online... I love Austin Canoe and Kayak.com. If they don't have it, then it will be hard to find. I have bought a ton of gear from them. Plus they send out coupons all the time for 15-20% off. Shipping for a kayak is around $50 bucks last I checked, and they have scratch and dent deals as well in the Outlet side of the store.

Try Craigslist as well, lots of good deals on there. Hope that helped some.

Edit: Forgot to add, that their is a Mobile Bay Kayak Fishing Association forum as well that people sell boats and give a lot of advice as well.

I fish out of a 16 ft Carolina with a rudder to maneuver between the weeds and lily pads. I use a 5ft ultralight rod and reel with 25lb braided line so I can pull out of the weeds and not break the line. Honestly any kayak that is comfortable for you will work. I also have a 12 foot Pungo that I use which is just fine as well. You get into places that boats cant and where the big fish sit it's great.

Just ordered 2015 Hobie Outback, its on backorder though. Should have it sometime in February. Got for 15% of since boat show is in Houston. Thought about getting the 2015 Jackson Cuda 12, but that was about $1350 without paddle or rudder. I figure that started to justify the cost of Hobie in addition to sale price. Also the updated cockpit, seat, and mirage drive. Be using for inshore saltwater fishing along Texas Gulf Coast.

Just found this post! I own a Native Slayer 12 and we are buying my wife a Jackson Cruise 10 Angler this year! I also have a custom kayak trailer I built.

Head a tiny bit east of Pensacola and head to Navarre. There is a place there called Broxon Outdoors (Broxonoutdoors.com) and the guy there named "Red" is a HUGE fisherman in the gulf. As memory serves he does competition kayak fishing in the gulf and really knows his stuff. I actually install green LED baitfish lights on kayaks and boats, and did his kayak. They have some REALLY good kayaks at that store.

I saw a couple of dudes with cool paddle-kayaks in the Hood Canal (WA) a couple of years ago. Sorry the pictures don't show a lot of detail.

Here it is as it progressed from a 12-14 ft boat trailer. I added a 2000 lb axle and all you see.

Thanks guys! It took a few years to acquire everything and build it but it has been great!

I've hauled yard waste, 16 ft lumber, furniture, and of course the kayaks. I plan on modding it a bit more before I call it finished!

Just picked up a pair of perception pescadors... How is everyone rigging their anchor? I've looked at the anchor trolley systems but I don't really want to drill holes just yet. It will be used in ponds, small lakes and small rivers only.

I've gotten away from anchors for the most part on still water. If there's a wind I'll just set up upwind and fish the cover as I drift along. For rivers and big lakes I use a small biner so I can easily switch left/right. Trolleys seem neat but I've not had a need to rig one up yet.

Anchor trollies are awesome because you can change your orientation relative to the wind or current. Just a pull of a cord to point your boat upwind, downwind, or sideways.
