    Redfish 27inch.jpg I moved closer to the water last year. Now I live 5 houses from the boat ramp and trailer my kayak using my golf cart. I fish just about everyday and catch redfish on almost every trip.(except this morning) I will usually fish the last 2 hours of outgoing tide or the first 2 hours of incoming tide, sometimes both. Casting the same paddletail lure, I will also catch sea trout and flounder.

    Hey, thanks for that info. You mind showing what paddle tail you are using. I caught a couple of good reds last summer at Shems creek in Charleston. From my outback.

    The top lure is a slam shady with a trout size jig head. This was my number 1 lure combo last year. Now it’s number 2, being replaced by my current favorite, “hot snakes” with a Texas Eye Strike jig head. I don’t have any unrigged Texas jig heads for an example, but look for the youtube video from Salt Strong. This setup is nearly snag free and super durable. These probably have 60 days of fishing on them and only the slam shady is showing signs of wear. Now that I’ve sampled the Texas Eye jig, I will buy more of these. I find Redfish to be very skittish and spook easily so I keep my jig heads on the smaller size. When I’m heading back to the ramp, I’ll typically troll and always with the slam shady. That seems to be a little better for the trout and flounder and those are the only 2 species I’ll catch trolling. Good luck.

    @pwgunny,
    I joined Salt Strong last year. Best money I’ve spent for fishing.

    Falls Lake near Raleigh NC. 20 inch 4lbs in kayak using crankbait and 4lb test. Nice way to spend what's probably the last warm day as leaves are falling.

    Also caught 3 incher, so maybe they evened out. Beat working anyway...

    Pulled the trigger on this Native Slayer so I could fish some shallow back water creeks. Definitely gonna be a little less work than my 20 ft bay boat. Gonna go chase some tailing redfish. :headbang:

    Where do you put in your kayak? I live in Goose Creek. I’ve put in at W.O. Thomas and Station 26. Love fishing out of my bay boat. Learning the ins and outs of kayaking.

    Any weird stability issues with the seat higher?

    No, not that I felt. I was out in the Delaware Bay the last 2 days. The higher seat makes it easier to stand up. I’m 6’3”

    Both, depending on distance and how many more kayaks besides mine to shuttle. My kayak is 14'9".
