just my two cents here, but Old Town makes an angler model complete with anchor rod holders and all the bells and whistles you need to go fishing out of a kayak. Personally i have a dirigo 105xt and i fish from it all the time. as far as racks go, Thule makes really good accessories for every type of vehicle. Inflatible roof racks and even hard mount rails that make loading and unloading a breeze! As long as you have at least 6 inches of water, you can fish from a kayak.

i have the redfish 12 and did the angler package myself and i love it! i ended up putting an anchor trolley from KFS on it and it works like a charm. now granted it is my first kayak i love it. its stable enough for me to stand up in and fish out of. i wouldnt trade it in for anything. the only thing is that it hangs out of the bed of my truck by about 6 feet, which kinda keeps me on edge. but the kayak is awesome. huge front hatch and everthing haha

I love to fish out of my kayak. I have a Wilderness systems tarpon 16'. its def a whole lot funner fishing out of a kayak, you get the up close feel of catching fish and if you hook up with one thats big enough it will pull you around. I fish out of my kayak mostly in saltwater out in the bay. Its also very nice when gas prices get to high and you dont wanna take the boat out just gotta make sure you got gas in the truck. I aint got some pics of my kayak but cant seem to find em.

I had a Thule rack on my Honda that I hauled my Future Beach Trophy 126 around on, it was rated for 75 lbs (as it was on a coupe I had to use a short roof adapter and that lowered my total haulable weight--I believe on a regular roof if was rated for 100 lbs). Anyway, I bet with a couple cross bars the OEM rack would be fine but the real issue is getting a 90 lb kayak on/off the roof of your truck by yourself. That would be a BITCH. Mine weighs 40 lbs and if can be TOUGH to get on the roof after you've been paddling all day. If you had a buddy that went with you all the time then it's no problem but if I were you I would haul it in the bed of your truck, and then when you were towing your RV you could put it on your roof rack *OR* strap it to the top of the RV and whenever you need it down you can just slide it off to someone on the ground. My 2 cents.

I have been saltwater fishing here in Texas (mostly Galveston) since childhood. Usually from shore and now wading all the time. I think I'm in love with a kayak! I have a friend who has been telling me for years to get a yak and I think it's going to finally happen soon. Here is what I'm considering based on its functionality and comfort according to reviews. It's the Jackson Kayak Cuda. All comments are welcomed. Thanks!

I have a 17' Perception Eclipse that I troll for striped bass while using my fly rod. It is a touring kayak, so way too narrow for casting from, but the rudder makes it descent to troll.

I can't speak for that particular kayak but I have heard lots of good things about the Jackson brand, they really seem to understand the needs of a kayak fisherman. When the day comes for me to upgrade I will be seriously looking at a Jackson Coosa, which looks alot like the one you posted but is probably shorter since it is made for river/creek fishing instead of bay/ocean fishing.

I don't have any pictures of me in my kayak but here's some shots of it on the water with a yellow Perception I rented from my school (no charge)for my brother in law to use on Big South Fork. I figure I will jsut post all the pics from that trip, it was amazing other than the fact that I only caught one fish and that was about 100 ft from our launch and we kayaked 30 river miles.

Nice thread, I like to fish with 2 ft long rods and ultralight reels in my kayak. I just ordered an emmrod pole made for kayaking,http://emmrod.com Long fishing rods are no fun in a kayak.

I just got the Field and Stream Eagle Talon 12 from Dick's Sporting goods. It has 2 fixed rod holders and an adjustable in front, came with an anchor, dry storage for wallet/phone and enough room for cast net bait bucket and as much fishing gear you could carry. I have seen it online for as much as 700 bucks but Dick's Sporting Goods had them on sale for 399.00. First time out in the no motor zone in the north Banana River (Near Port Canaveral and the Cape) I got 8 trout, 4 were in the 22 to 26 inch range the other were smaller. It needs a better seat. It REALLY neads a better seat. But all in all I have had this yak out twice and I love it. Today I went to some islands in the Indian River here in Florida and while I didn't catch any fish today due to wet and windy weather the yak did awsome and I can transport this thing in my bed with no problems. I'll post some pictures asap,(need to get a camera from the GF) Keep you posted.

Me and the wife try to go to the White River as much as we can and rent a canoe for trout fishing. We were at Bass Pro today picking up a few things for our trip next week. I was checking out the SOT kayaks and trying to convince her we should get his and her's kayaks. She didn't like the idea too much. I'm gonna keep pushing the issue tho. Seems ideal to me !!! Esp when I can get away by myself...
