Will be moving into Castle Rock early summer and trying to get a jump on fishing locations around the area. Fly and Bait Caster for bass, walleye(?) and of course trout. Will be using either inflatable pontoon or yak. Without giving up your honey-holes would really appreciate any info.

I Fly Fish (Trout), so take this with a grain of salt. Problem we have is someone years ago stocked the crap out carnivorous fish (Pike, Muskie, Etc) which really put a dampener on other species. I think most places around Denver have regs that it is illegal to return these fish to water if caught, trying to reduce the populations.

That being said, I know Fisheries is making a huge effort to Stock Walleye this year. Saw on news them dumping fry back into Pueblo Reservoir just the other night.

Since you are in Castle Rock there are a ton of places to go up at Chatfield Reservoir.

You might also want to take a trip down to Monument Lake where I live. They always have stockers in there and you can use all types of bait. I am a Fly fisherman so I typically do Ice Fishing in the winter there when I am in need of a FIX instead of heading to the tailwaters around the state.

You can do a quick trip to Deckers area and fish there as well for fly fishing....pretty drive from where you are but be advised it gets pretty crowded on weekends all up and down the river.

I have found that being on the water on weekends is more stressful so will be out there during the week. Thx

For lakes check out Antero, Spinney and 11 Mile. All have a variety of fish species and fish well. Lots of big trout
