Not near as cool as some of the others but it’s quick and easy. Found these at Home Depot.

Haven't done it to my Tacoma yet, but did it when I was going up on my 95 F150. I took a steel plate, some steel tubing and cut the tubes at an angle and welded them to the steel plate. Painted them black and bolted it to the tool box. It worked out great because they were at an angel as opposed to straight up and I always ran that truck in the woods to do some creek/lake fishing so it kept them from whacking every tree branch. Only cost me I want to say around 40 bucks, ill try to get some pictures of it posted when I get a chance.

Definitely not the budget option, but I'm pretty happy with how this is working so far. The box is 7'8" long, so if I slide the rods back all the way, I can fit most of them in there whole.

I used to keep them all in the bed, but even in 2 pieces my new surf rod wouldn't fit without putting it on an angle.

EDIT: I realize that the OP was looking for ideas for in the bed, but I thought I would share anyway.

Ski roof racks work so great. Clamp full rods right in them and shoot up and down the river. No disassembly required at all.

Did you swamp out the stock screws/bolts in the cap roof so you could secure the bungee?

It only holds two piece rods, but at least I can lock them up in the bed.
