All you keep rambling on about is 2wd and center locking difs. But yeah sure.

Also why are you talking about locking difs when the topic primarily was 4hi, which a stock Tacoma can’t utilize in 4hi.

Huh? Haven’t you been talking this whole time about 2hi being better than 4hi in snow and ice?

Find anywhere in my posts that I said stopping distance decreased with abs on under all conditions. It absolutely does in most and it does when wheels are on differing surfaces while threshold braking experts are frantically trying to control braking on all four wheels separately. This often happens as “ threshold “ braking experts are pissing their pants while they careen out of control over median strips.

Still on this shortest distance is always best kick ?

Surprise, in 4 hi the transfer case locks the rotation front to rear. It acts like a locked center differential.

Better at what ? Braking control ? Yes ! I have to remember, I don’t use 4 hi much as you because......I have winter tires and weight.
    http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/ABS_parttime.html

This means the abs works better in 2 wd. Abs and stability control.

Alright kiddo. First off in all time 4wd or awd vehicles when you lock the center diff, Lock being the key word here your sending equal power to ALL FOUR WHEELS all the time. 4wd trucks literally never have power going to all four wheels at the same time unless you have front and rear lockers. Doesn't matter if you have posi trac open diffs or lsd you are literally never sending power to all four wheels simultaneously in 4wd. your computer is always alternating power to the wheel that has the most traction. go look up how symmetrical awd systems work like in subarus, evos, Quattro, x-drive, then try to tell me that having 4wd engaged in a truck is the same shit as having a center locking diff. jesus Christ.

So no the tcase does not act like a center locking diff you fool.

Not exactly. A vehicle with a open differentials on the axles and a locked center differential is only matching front and rear axle speeds, not individual wheel speeds. The open differentials in the axles still function like normal and allow differential wheel speeds across that axle. What you describe is a vehicle with a locked center AND locked axle differentials which then drives every wheel exactly the same.

Our transfer cases are essentially a locked differential when put in 4hi, it drives both axles at the same speed at all times.

That’s a contradiction right there. The first statement is false, or terribly incoherent; the second is true and I agree. . Without front and rear lockers in a Taco, equal power, 50/50 is send front and rear, but it gets apportioned by the differentials side to side from there. If they both locked instead, which stock Tacos can’t do, , then each wheel is rendered 1/4 of the available torque, some of which is lost in transit.
But, there is no center differential in a Taco, it behaves like my selectable four runner which did have one, in the locked mode.
    Starting to feel embarrassed ?
