:boom:I know I'm a second gen. But sometimes we have to jump in to help out a little. 285 will clear on your factory ride with a better backspacing than stock......but....... every truck is different, every truck is different, every truck is different. With that plastered in there. There are things to take into account, first is alignment . Adjustable usually to get off your cab mount for the most part( caster). Second is tire choice, tires per manufacturer in the same "size rating" run different sizes. Third is offset, the further out your tire, the further your scrub radius. Which means further tire travel back, to forth, and out when turning (look it up if it's in question) . So the need to ask if specific wheel/ tire combo is going to work for you, is not the question. It's what might you have to do to make it work. Sometimes it's just alignment, and sometimes it's cutting..... if you can't make it fit at factory height (aside from being a 4wd w/out a full DB kit or a 2wd on maxtrac) it won't fit when your flexed off road either way (think tire stuffed into wheel well). You either make it work if it's not. Or don't deal with it and go smaller. Not a rant, hopefully informative. :hattip::cheers:

You are aware tire size/brand, wheel specs, suspension and chopping mods all play a role in getting it this way, correct?
    (No offense intended)
Just saying most ppl think slap them on any taco and it'll work.

Oh ok cool some don't know and spend money so just looking out.
I have the Nitto Ridge Grapplers AT hybrid. they run a bit bigger/wider than most 285's. The icon s4 settled to about 2.75

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
90% chance it will require CMC and fender trimming. Depending on tires and alignment.

OP, I was on the fence about 265/70/17 or 285/70/17 and I have zero regrets going with 265's. Ride feels like stock and fuel mileage is the same. Ties are pretty much flush with genders and with the factory mud guards all of the road crap says under my truck and not on it. Mine is also a daily driver and I didn't buy a 4x4 truck so I could worry about it rubbing. Good luck with your decision brother. IMG_1673.jpgIMG_1675.jpg

If you have the adjustable uca's you should be fine. If not, shoot for closest to 3 for caster. You already did cmc so would prob just need heat gun or sawzall to the plastic in the fender space.

I have some Cooper Discoverer ATPs that I want to mount on the Ray 10s. The Ray 10s have about 4.30 BS with -10mm offset. Going to run OME 888 coils which should give me 2.75' of lift. Should I consider the 275/70/17 to avoid chopping anything? The thought of "chopping" anything with a new truck definitely doesn't sit too well on my mind.

I think you should go big or go home! If you plan on off roasting you probably need the chopping, if just daily driving n mall crawling I think a lot of people on here say they don't rub but like I said I'll find out Wednesday cause my wheels come Monday :) but I already have a CMC done

Damn you! When I have my doubts, the "go big or go home" mentality always kicks in and you just reminded me. I do most of my driving on the road as a mall crawler. But when I go off roading with people, it's usually go big or go home. Did you do the CMC yourself? How much would something like that cost if I were to have someone do it for me at a shop?

I get so many mixed reviews cause a lot of 3rd gen owners say they have done zero to minimal to chopping the CMC to make the 285s work.

My friends on the same boat as you, I suggested to wait to do the CMC till he mounts cause of all the mixed reviews of not rubbing. So he's gonna mount and see and do it if he needs to. I had my done by demello before they increased their price 200 :)
