Get some ratcheting box wrenches. I don't remember what size, maybe 12mm? It's something normal, not big. Also be ready to hold a half crunch for 20 minutes unless you have a lift of jack up the truck.

I will try that. Also do you recall the drill hole size? Thanks for the quick reply.

also interested in this. Would love to have a fully functional 5th wheel to rotate in. Suppose you could go without a sensor and it will read the spare when you rotate the 5th wheel into use.

For 2nd gens, the answer was no. You seem to have a 3rd gen though… Yes, what you suppose can be done, but kinda defeats the safety aspect of the TPMS. Just go deflate your spare and see if it trips the dash light. Then you have your answer.

Ecu only allows 4 sensors. You can add tpms to your spare, it just adds a step to each tire rotation.
You have to remove the sensor ID of your new spare and add the ID of the former spare in its place.
This can be done with techstream, a tpms tool, or an obd dongle and app like carista.
You just need to make sure and write down your tpms sensor ids and keep track of them. I have mine written on the backs of the wheels

Commenting in case someone has a similar setup, 2022 tacoma sb with 285/70/17 at3w wild peaks. Cut off both tabs, pull the spare towards the hitch as your tightening, this will give diff clearance. You’ll still clear w/o pulling but diff will touch tire if flexed.
