Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

10-20 solid hits with a brass hammer with the axle shaft in a vice and they popped right off!!!

 

All I see are some good cores

I just wire tied the outer stub up so you are hitting it right on the star. The first one came off in about 5 swings, the other one I had to turn it a few times until it was in the sweet spot

 

I've also got a good soft lead pipe I can use to hit all the way around

 

I like how the 2 cutting disks and the blue shop towel look like a Halloween mask from a far!

I have all that too from HF but I think they discontinued all of them!

Well fuck, I wish I'd thought of putting the axle in a vice, not the outer CV. I used the cut/drill/press method.

 

The solo rack has bump steer issues with OEM width trucks (LT makes that go away, by changing other geometry) and requires far more and harder, fab work. And it's still got issues with shaft flex and eating seals/gaskets. I have the Solo and am happy with it, but if this had been on the market when I needed a new steering setup I'd have been looking really hard at this setup, and I'm not sure what I'd have picked.

 

Well, nothing at the campus machine shop would work so I went ahead and ordered this. Then decided to try my drill bit from the small end for grins and giggles when I got home and of course it went right through and the bolt is nice and tight. Something about the taper of the bit and taper of the bore it didn’t like. So I’ll be returning this as soon as it gets here lol

 

@jjhitchen another steering option for you to consider.

 

If in a machine shop, put em up on a manual mill, indicate the hole and run a carbide endmill through. Undersized, then run a reamer to size. At least that's how I was taught.

Yeah problem was going to be holding it securely in the mill that allowed for it to be oriented straight. I’m sure it could be done with a custom jig or something, but we got it.
