I'd have to disagree with you not caging it. With how your truck will be set up, you'll be able to do alot of stupid stuff and should look into caging it. Especially if your rock crawling. I'm on 5100s and 14s in the rear, and I need a cage. These trucks are extremely capable if you push them. Anyways, I look forward to seeing the truck on the trails, hopefully we get to wheel together sometime.

Portals can be extremely weak point in rock crawling especially if you have to hit it when it's nasty out and you don't have the luxury of traction. You missed the point that was being made and went to an extreme with the portals. I mean I can gain a ton of clearance too by hacking my truck to bits and throwing some 42" stickies on it.
To add to the loss of GC on the tubes you also are comparing a 62" spring and hanger set up to a spring and hanger set up that is designed around factory pick up points and length. It's apples to oranges. I've seen the HH and with the right postioning of things they are cycling pretty damn good based on factory pickups. You were also limiting a lot of your travel with those BP-51s as they are the shortest factory replacement performance shock you can get Dakars and stock hangers are limited by them as far as flex goes.

SUA is ideally used for the go fast stuff, come out to wheel some rocks for any amount of time factory trucks that were SUA get converted to SOA, they get built around the SOA. You won't see any SUA trucks unless thats what it was factory out here on the trails. The stock U-bolt stuff gets hung up a lot that's why we do u-bolt flips.

Going to put the LCA Pivot kit in my 4Runner early next year. Should work. Just found out about that kit and looks pretty slick. Will be running just the stock lower control arms though. 4Runner is the mild daily, the Tacoma is the extreme build so want to improve a little on the 4Runner and fit 35s.

I definitely agree with this post... the way @kasnerd truck is being built will easily be able to go 70mph+ through the big bumps down here in SoCal. I have lots of experience with Toyota’s running 62” SUA setups and they are mind blowing.

yep, was ubolt flipped (one of the first mods) and yes the setup with dakars and the ome's were less than ideal for my uses.
That's the awesome part, it's so easy to build on this platform, the possibilities are endless and can change it up for whatever. I'm super stoked for this build out and if I miss being in the rocks, I'm thinking about doing a mintruck sas'd with an atlas or marlin box. Toyota, go places..

I have to agree with this. Too many people focus on building their trucks to have optimal amounts of travel but fail to realize the safety aspects of the build. A Tacoma with some decent shocks and a relocation can be scary enough IMO.

We have been toying around with some ProAm hubs and custom spindles that use a 934 outer CV... the downside is the parts alone cost about $9k :)

@81Trekker Couple of questions about the front end parts all together I plan to do the lower pivots, long Tavel and 934 cvs on my 07 4runner. I’m moving to the rust belt though so the inner uniballs are a concern of mine do the oe bushings limit anything in this kit other than strength? And would all of this be close enough for that a bit of grinding if needed would fit it all? Also that slide rack is exactly what I’ve been wanting for my truck a much more simple steering upgrade I hope one day I can mount one up. I know there may be discrepancies though being taco to 4runner. I know some of this may have been answered before as well so sorry in advance. This kit looks badass and helps me not sas my truck

Need to do the coil bucket gussets, which I don't have yet, but I will do them at the same time as doing the slide rack, when I can afford it.

Have taken it out a few times, but not done anything too crazy. Small amounts of air time and just running fast over big pot holes basically, but the front is unreal. The back feels good, but the 63s don't allow enough up travel, so they are what's limiting how fast I can go now. Will likely eventually do the JD Sua kit when it's available and I have money. But for now pretty happy! 37s are next up.

Just a couple shots doing the forklift flex test. Just for something to look at. Rear wheel is 30" off the ground, which isn't bad. Gained maybe 2" over my old mid travel setup.

Please point out anything that looks weird if you see anything!

What tire size are you currently running? You believe 37's will fit and not get into anything when stuffed?
