Who would be up for a from scratch rolling chassis to throw your Tacoma cab onto?

this is awesome, love how it's all packaged. So after I get my lower pivots burned in I just need to get the power steering kit and then the fenders and UMP. Keep adding to my plans!

To be fair this quote was in regards to my first Tacoma. With that truck all I did was the LCA pivots and upper arms which only cost $1500. As for the silver truck the goal was to make some of the coolest parts available for the Tacoma... I also didn’t have a budget when building that truck so things got carried away :)

Would both of you just give it a rest? Your bantering back and forth just clogs up the thread with useless information and gets old. Take it to a PM, or hug, or something… :duel:

From an outside standpoint, neither of you work on your own truck to the point where you should be grading anyone else’s work.

Just move on and enjoy your trucks for what you intended them to be.

So, i tried to politely cut this off but you want to keep pushing even deeper so here's one more attempt :

Again out of respect for Harry I’m just going to clarify a few things as I did in other thread when you completely unprovoked started talking crap about my truck last week and them I’m going to click the “ ignore” button.

    1. There is nothing wrong with the geometry of my links and my 3 link suspension has nothing to do with my problem. You don’t have a grasp of the issue and you are basically pulling a 2+2=7 out of bits of info you heard at the shop. Your a PC guy and an offroading expert so grab some link design software ( it’s free ) and climb under my truck and plug in all of the dims and you’ll see that it is all quite where it should be. Open invite bro come over this weekend and we can post the data for everyone to see.

Now just to warn you if you’re saying my suspension geometry is bad you’re talkin’ smack about a few other guys too including the guy that helped
@snowsk8air2 tune his truck aka the guy that built this truck below ( and many others )...because my he was kind enough to lend some advice and mine is 99% the same as his.

    upload_2021-6-18_17-43-58.jpg

    2. No extra weight was added to the truck, in fact the new rear bumper set up is lighter thanks to Harry's redesign + the sliders are off + the 200lb camper shell isn’t even on it anymore so I don’t know what school you went too but when I take 400 lbs off of something that makes it lighter not heavier ?

    3. My truck in it’s previous two configs has been to Zihuat twice, southern Sinaloa multiple times & all over the entire Baja peninsula for 15 years so yes it was quite capable and well used ( and well broken lol ) long before i had the pleasure of running across your charming presence.

So, in summary everything you are trying to use as ammo is wrong amigo.

That’s what I’m doing to get the rest of the LT kit. Being a 3rd gen though. Gotta figure out the oil filter for a better rack or try that other non nameable company.

Lots of OT for me too. The to do list on the truck just never seems to get shorter.

That’s a tempting next step for me. Seriously.

Brian has driven for a few companies and built his fair share of trucks over the limited years. He is probably 75% the reason my truck works so well and turns out we grew up one town apart before we met 20 yrs later. The 3 link setup he had was amazing and the best handling truck I have ever ridden in. This is the internet with lots of keyboard warriors, including myself at times, but all I want is for people to get out and run their trucks.

What’s everyone doing spring wise on the +2.25? I’ve been emailed options for 16” 650lb or 18” 600lb. Honestly not sure what impact longer springs at a lower rate would have since they’re linear and the geometry is different. I have 14” 650lb right now on OEM replacement Kings and could probably stand to go to 600lb. 700lb were awful even though I have a good bit of weight up front.

There's smarter people than me that can answer this.
From what I understand, a longer spring with a lower weight capacity. Provides better spring control in the cycle of shock. Which translates to smoother ride and more.

More spring length= Less preload. Extremely generalized statement on my part but you get the idea. The more spring rate, the less preload you’d need to obtain your ride height. There are also ride quality characteristics in this but most people relate spring rate to obtaining ride height.

I’m running 16x600 on mine right now with .75” or so of preload. Steel hybrid bumper, winch, and JD LCA relocate.

Does anyone have any good shots of the high-clearance cuts on the front bumpers that they've done? I know Harry cut up a few Pelfrey bumpers, but I wasn't sure if anyone else had done something similar if you deleted that lower crossmember.

Right now I just have a quick piece of bent aluminum covering that triangle between the crossmember and the LCA pivot rack. The plan is to add some lightness to the truck and switch to an Al front and rear bumper over the winter, and I want to see how I'm going to have to modify things.

Harry is sending me some 600s right now and he recommended 18” to achieve a decent ride height without a lot of preload.

I had 14x600 on my oem kings and it was a great fit.
