touche I'm always too eager and the stuff starts to pile up in the garage waiting for install. Hoping I can get the JD and LT stuff done sooner than later. Once I figure out welding or have time to do so then its prob all over from there. My main blocker from install as I like to tackle stuff myself if I can.

Similar to other comments before I wish I had just done this from the get go. I went full ham on Mid Travel and minute a few things (and wanting more gusseting) the maintenance for a Mid Travel is pretty much the same as a Long Travel. I already had bought another +2 kit mainly because of a deal I got but was seriously considering the +4 kit and lower offset wheels. My current mid travel setup is as wide as a LT setup already.

Do the stock length UCA's work on 5th gen 4runner too? I know with a lot of other manufacturers they use the same arm for tacoma's and 4runners and some other trucks because it all uses the same arm.

Logic would tell me that yes they'll work on a 4runner but wanted to ask if anyone has confirmed this.

Ordered McNeil but ended up cancelling my order. The poke matches the rear perfectly and I'd rather have that $700 in my pocket.

Ball joint taper and the ball joint itself is larger on 4runners I assume due to higher gvwr. But the bushings size, spacing, etc I believe are the same. I know people put 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma UCAs on 4th gen 4runners, but technically they don't "fit" because the taper is different.

I've had both tacoma and 4runner (dare I say) SPC UCA ball joints in my hand and can confirm this is true

What I don't know is if the actually press fit housing area is a different size and could be swapped in or not. I have some 4runner stock UCAs if someone can track down tacoma UBJs to try to mash together as an experiment

I mean 5th gen runners. Sites like Total Chaos and JBA use the same part number for both products.

4th and 5th gen 4runner UCAs are the same. I thought there were different pns for tacoma and 4runner for the aftermarket UCAs, but I could be wrong

edit: I see JBA has them all listed under the same thing, but theres a dropdown for which model. Not sure if they're actually different or what. The SPC 4runner and tacoma ball joints had noticeably different taper sizes

JBA is a different number. Uniball UCAs work for all but not ball joint.

Is it full bolt on? Or are the frame box pieces supposed to be welded in?

They definitely look like they need to be welded in. Also, given JD's portfolio of products I'd wager that most anything they develop will be weld-on

    Too many to remember
The plates on the inside get welded to the frame and double as a frame box kit

Awesome. I’ll add this to the list when the rear gets revamped! Might as well route some of my direct deposit straight to JD :spending:
