    Whole lotta stuff
Yep I was thinking along those same lines, but I don't have any way to know for sure. The roads around where I live are absolute garbage and full of potholes. It always seems like the rear of my truck dances differently than the front driving down the road, no matter what changes I make to the suspension.

I had that same feeling when I had a swing out tire carrier. Felt like the truck was going to split in half. One of the best moves I made was getting rid of it. I just strap the spare to the bed under my jack and call it a day. Turned out to be much more functional than a swing out…

Yup exactly, folks have been mistaking that for axle wrap forever when a big part of it is the frame bouncing.

What if I connected my rear bumper to the sliders. :welder:

well if we’ve learned anything from TW it’s that we should ignore the actual cause of the problem and spend a bunch of money on snake oil work arounds that don’t do shit…so yeah go for it

There's a great video of my truck in slow mo hitting an obstacle hard and you can see all the twisting and weakness in the frame. I'll see if I can't find it. @Dayman Karate might could get it too.

For reference my frame is plated all the way to just under the rear of the cab and I have an extra cross bar in the rear. All the frame plates were fitted right up against the stock cross bars then welded to them as well.

Holy shit, I’ve been going batshit nuts wondering what my bounce has been for a while now. It seemed to get worse after I did the LCA pivots but always feels like it’s from the rear. Almost like a tire out of round at times….

Edit: I also have the archive hammer hangers with cross bar in the rear. So that also probably adds to it.

it’s on Jeff’s YouTube but I don’t know how to get back to it. It’s wild how much it moves. That being said, I can stomp on the end of my sliders and watch the bed/cab vibrate back and forth which is a little concerning- especially with poly cab bushings

I’ll wheel this Tacoma until it folds in half I guess. Then I’ll give it up and get a Ridgeline and start tucking my shirt in.

Exactly the same thing here. In fact at one point I went as far as tightening my rebound in the rear and that actually made it worse.

It still amazes me that guys will spend endless amounts of money on wheels, suspension, shocks, bumpers, lights, engine performance and everything else under the sun but won’t put a cage in their trucks. Once you do it all the problems are fixed and the trucks ride a million times better. And when done right you will never even know there is one in there.

This has been my biggest challenge to understand with the Tacoma scene. In the world I’m from the first thing you do is a cage and then you go from there. If a truck doesn’t have good bones then you’re just asking for problems.

I get it if you’re just doing the overland thing but if you’re actually beating on your truck like all our parts are designed for then you should reconsider your priorities with your build.

All of that said I’m not even taking into consideration the safety aspect which I’ve discussed many times before.

How much would a WIY kit of the same cage you have in the Double cab run someone?

Never gonna happen, in order to do it properly it can’t be a simple weld it yourself thing.

I'd love to cage mine. Definitely future plans. Finding someone to do it and the $$$ is the current issue

I told myself once I got my tube bender that I would build myself one. Then I actually worked with round tube and laughed at my old self. It would be so hard to do an interior cage well. Even getting 4 bends on my front bumper where I wanted them and on the same plane was tricky enough. Can’t imagine the complexity of all the bends of a cab.

I like Harry's as its the tightest fit and makes it almost look factory, but yeah exo is probably way easier to do. I want to keep it looking stock as much as possible but this also started out as a budget build and things escalated. 3k for the rear was the height of pricey for us, but you gotta pay to play or so they say.

A cage is definitely in the cards for me if I ever have time. No chance it will be as nice as Harry's stuff obviously, but I have to start learning somewhere.

Once @snowsk8air2 has a shop then a cage will be discussed.
