Finally finished up my Wilwood BBK and cutting and prepping for the 35s over the weekend. I'm already itching for that pivot kit.. and now that HOWE kit. Wow.. I can really feel the slop in the steering now.

I rub the cab mount some still after my original chop that was done close to a decade ago. I plan on doing a cab mount relocate for the time being until my wallet cools off a bit. Then I can cut and hammer back the remainder of the pinch weld and firewall. I ultimately want the pivot kit and HOWE pump... and a rack. Lol. Baby steps.. For now I'll just keep drooling and lurking in here, researching and soaking it all up to plan my next move.

I guess I forgot my question.. lol

I saw 3rd gen bushings are required with the Pivot kit.. but is that just for using stock LCAs? I started my "re-build" before I knew anything about all the JD Fab goodness. I want to make sure the steps I'm taking won't be wasted and will work with future upgrades. I currently have TC Gussets throughout and DK lowers... Those are my concern areas I guess. If and when I swap to the Pivot kit.. will these be an issue? The cab mount relocate doesn't matter either right? I imagine it wouldn't.

I'm already wanting to gut it and rebuild it again. I gotta stay off the JD website..

Your TC gussets will disappear with the LCA pivot kit....the DK's will work just fine. The cab mount relocate is a non issue....actually with the LCA kit you wouldnt even need to relocate the cab mount.

All you need to do is call DK and ask for different bushings to convert your lca to a “third gen”. I know first hand it’s possible because my buddy bought their stock length lca off of a third gen, put new bushings in, and is running it on his second gen. Hell, he may even still have the third gen bushings he can send your way.

You don’t even need new bushings, just the bushing sleeves and all you have to do is drill them out from 9/16 to 5/8

Didn't see a cross ditch until last second yesterday. Braked as much as I could but still hit it doing at least 45km/h. I didn't have the skid on cuz I still don't have a front axle and this was supposed to be a mellow camp trip.

I completely crushed that lower cross bar. And launched a couple water melon sized rocks a good 50'. But other than that, no damage to the long travel kit, or pivot kit. Truck still drove perfectly straight when I got back to pavement. Pretty blown away considering how hard I hit that thing.

Very thankful @81Trekker sent me a replacement bar and I haven't swapped it yet! Really need to build that front skid and a new bumper! Putting all this stuff through its paces anyway, and not dissapointed at all.

Definitely saved the rest. Should be an easy enough fix for you at your shop.

Testament to the strength of that 81Trekker kit.

ahh true. I meant in general I guess.. but that doesnt matter either because I can just add on the double shear kit to those and be done. ok.. just disregard my dumbass then. lol gussets dont matter, check.

and I know that's the case.. and its painful, but I need something for the time being. I have spent FAR too much recently on this truck. Picking up 2 more large additions for it in the coming months.

    3rd gen sleeves correct?

I’m stoked to see that thing all smashed and mangled... you’re really putting it to the test!

The nice part about the removable cross bar is in the event that yours ends up like this just give me a call and I can send you a new one... way better than destroying the OE crossmember!

    Very stoked on everything!

Can't wait to try out the SUA kit, Howe pump and slide rack. They are all here just waiting for me to have some time.

It's not ideal, but doing it in steps like this definitely lets me appreciate each upgrade individually haha

Wonder what a combination of JBA's HD high caster uppers and the JD LCA pivot kit would do?
