Cool, good to know. I was only asking because Kartek needs to know for heimed tie rods.

That's what Jesse from JD recommended. I had asked Cory about that previously.

Jesse suggested it for what I do. And I’m quite sure he has more knowledge in this department than any of us.

Well you'll never see me pack any heim with grease. Any good heim has wipers to keep debris out and are a typically a self lubricated joint. But what do I know.......

I'll just sit back and watch.

It’s completely sealed. So how does it matter? Not even water gets into them. No different than a ball joint with a boot. But what do I know?

Also, the reason he recommended it is because I live in an area where roads get salted. So in order to protect the ball, this was the best option.

How'd you seal it completely with a through bolt?

No it's quite a bit different than a balljoint shows that you don't really know. Balljoints rely on the boot as the seal and to retain the lubricant ie grease the seals for a heim are built in and what JD sends are non serviceable or mine are.

Again a non serviceable heim has wipers on it and is self lubricating so how is packing a shit ton of grease in a boot around it do anything......

You wanna do it you do you. I want to visually see my heims and be able to easily and cleanly replace them when the time comes.

I don't see completely sealing a boot around this then pumping an grease in

You’re right. The owner of JD is wrong. You should let him know he’s giving out bad info. I just can’t understand people like you basically arguing with people like them. It’s been working great. I guess time will tell, right?

At the end of the day, a new heim is like $40. Really not the end of the world if one method ends up not working as well as the other.

Exactly. I don’t see any sense in going back and forth on what’s right and what’s wrong. So far I’ve been happy. My entire front end was submerged in nasty shit for over an hour and I can verify no water got in because I checked. Must be working. Time will tell how long they last.

I just want to see this outer sealed heim boot contraption. That's got my interest more than a stupid heim now or what they recc.
That's exactly why I want to easily be able to visually inspect at any time.

Kartek makes them if you do a quick Google for heim boot.

I know they are "dust" boots looks like a heim condom. I'd run them if I were in the desert and running fast where that crap would be like a sand blaster to everything. I'd run shock guards too. Doesn't look like they have enough room to pack full of grease though.

Here’s what they look like. Cliff notes, they suck to put on. You’ll have some sore fingers.

I put them on dry. Once I was done I slid my needle greaser in along the misalignments and pumped some in.

@906taco here I did a quick search for ya.
    http://www.aurorabearing.com/technical-faqs.html

Question about maintenance on this page all lined heims no maintenance and no lubrication should be used. but metal to metal a thin smearing. So both are kinda right depending on the heim. Just saying it pays to do a little research and not just go on whatever someone says all the time and know exactly what you have in your vehicle every nut every bolt. That was my point that you had to get all smart ass and snarky.

@EatSleepTacos also min thread engagement is on there 1.5x the major thread diam so if it's 1" Dia. That would be 1.5" min thread engagement.
