Quick question, Ive seen ppl paint the whole spindle when they do the double shear kit. They paint the surfaces in side the spindle where the CV sits and also the face that the wheel bearing attaches to. Is there a negative to that? Are you supposed to leave it raw surface?

I taped and put screws back in the holes when I painted mine after the spindle gussets. Some worn out flap disks cover it pretty well. Don’t know if there are any downsides to getting paint in there but I figured I’d keep it how it was.

Idk if any of us in here have fender liners at this point. I will say, I pulled the UMP after a few thousand miles to see how it was doing and it was pretty impressively clean. I used to clog the stock filter in a weekend. Now I don’t even think about it. I’ll check it when I do oil changes and that’s it.

knock us westies for non mud but we have dust and silt...like a sandblaster, gets into everything. The UMPs are so little maintenance. Fuck that aftermarket ricer CAI bullshit or bro-dork-els. They don't separate particles before the filter like a UMP. Look what the racers use because it works. I use cyclonic filters for wood dust and they are incredibly efficient and filter maintenance is really really low, like forget about it low.

You can get those snorkel tops that do the cyclone thing and separate the big particles. I hate the dust more than the mud.

whatever works for folks, but always remember kids, life may be good, but it can be better (or worse if you have a snorkel).

I run a snorkel with a cyclone prefilter. :anonymous:

My filter was getting wrecked from the dust out here in AZ. Looks ridiculous but it works and that’s all I care about.
