Just a tradesman here for gas and petroleum industry.
Yes, I know how to get free gas. No, I wont give you any unless your gonna pay bail and all legal fees associated.

The way gas prices are going out here we may need to talk. Bail and legal fees might be cheaper

I'm just a lowly Machinist trying to make a buck out of $0.50. Wish I made the fun money some of y'all have into these trucks.

Our company is trying that bit right now. Our Union contract says 'You must ask for volunteers, then go in reverse seniority order if there are none, then you can mandate it.' They skipped all of the steps so I keep telling everyone its not mandatory. I'm a Shop Steward for the IAMAW.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, it's part of our negotiations. The band-aid box "can't" go unstaffed, so we've gotta cover the shifts. With covid, we've had record people out, and record call volume which is a recipe for fun misery.

On the plus side, my new agency mandates 10 hours OFF between shifts, which is a pleasant change.

I don't mind OT when its optional. Only way to make a decent buck. Between my wife's medical bills and all the other bs, I need the money. Every now and then I can get something for the truck.
Longest shift I've worked at this job was 15.5 hours. Never again will I subject myself to that torture.

It’s the back to back to back 60+ hr weeks that wear me out. I can maintain 50hrs no problems though.

I prefer my method of working 40 hours a week from home and barely doing any work.

Having a doctor for a wife helps too.

That makes more sense. Well then the key to that is to work for the government. Highly inefficient.
