That bumper actually has some potential. The top half is how I’ve modified the pelf bumpers in the past. You could start with that bumper and then add tubes from the LCA pivot kit up to the bottom of the frame and then add your own skid.

I have made something similar already so I might not have to do much to make it fit. My skid terminates right in front of the bolts like the one you posted. Instead of tube I tapered the edge of the skid and used some little c channel in the middle. tube would have been better at strengthening the frame horns though.

Warfab has their frame tuck plate for starting your own bumper build. they also have one I think for the tucked frame.

the demello offroad bumpers actually end "above" that lower cross member -- i don't know how height you get, but it might be a good starting point.

I think that skid is extra ugly because it a, starts further back towards the rear of the vehicle instead of right at the (new) crossmember, and b, drops WELL below the LCA pivots. Both of those facts make it very strange looking

Was thinking the same myself. The bumper itself doesn't look too bad and would save having to cut up another manufacturer's design. Then just build the skid yourself.

Agreed, I like everything about the bumper except this:

I wish those were on the "inside" of the bumper shell, but I'm sure that's just because I'm tired of road debris/salt destroying every fastener on my vehicle.

I'm friends with the owner of coastal off road. I could talk to him about doing some redesigns if you guys have ideas for that bumper.

I think I have two of his high clearance bumper kits at my shop right now. One is half welded, but I just tacked it together, then let a friend practice his welding on it so it's not the prettiest. It's only the center section, but I would give it away. My plan was to use the center winch section on my truck, then build tube wings and a skid for it.

The other one is his prototype of the high clearance, and it's not welded at all yet and might be missing a couple pieces, but it's the full bumper I'm pretty sure.

I think I might end up just making a full tube front bumper for my truck. Haven't had time to think about it yet.

But yeah I never told him my true feelings about the skid haha

Nice! I emailed them about a HC for the 3rd gens, sounds like it's "on the way", which is cool. Their stuff looks nice and pretty light, which is appealing.

That skid is definitely....interesting. Idk, it's been a while since I did any engineering, but I would have figured you'd want the shallowest angle available to redirect any impact/push the truck over shit.

I’m a big fan of the tucked tube bumper look. Obviously, because that’s what I built lol there are some things I would do differently but I’m happy with it for my first tube project

Really hard to thread inside the welded front plate. I have a Coastal front and just threading my winch bolts was a trial and a half that left me with bruises on my arms.

For sure, and I know the shackles should go as in-line to the frame as possible, I just think it doesn't look great.

That's why we're spending money on these things anyway, right?

Yeah me too, it's just trying to get the winch as tight as possible to make the bumper have a nice smooth transition down to the belly skid.

That's why I got him to add those holes below the winch fairlead hole so you can get a socket straight up to the front winch bolts cuz it was such a pain when we do a lot of them

Yeah I was literally on the verge of cutting the front plate back off and rewelding it later.

Haven’t been to Windrock since winter before CxxxD. 22 was a disaster. So much they were surprised we completed it. The water fall was a slick mess. Near slid off the edge of the mountain there.
    How is it now?
