How are you planning on connecting the top of what little is left on the core support to the fender?

Toob from the hood latch pin to the top of the inner fender.

The bottom is supported by a plate I made long ago. I’m going to redo it when my welder buddy is available.

Did the emf uniballs in your kit have the set screw on the body? We would have to press them out to get to it correct?

I struggled so much with drilling the holesaw hole out of the coil bucket when I did my truck, just snapping pilot bits like crazy. So this time instead I holesawed out the guide, and bolted it to the bottom, rather than the top, then used it as a guide from the outside instead and it worked way easier for me. Just a couple minutes per side.

I don't know why I struggled so much with it bolted to the top and using the pilot bit, but anyway, if you're struggling too, try this way.

What exactly were you struggling with? Was the saw too bite-y? I’m just curious because I bolted it on top and it was really easy.

Yeah I dunno, i had a tonne of lube on there, had it all lined up, start slow etc etc. It would just walk all over, then bite and snap the bit. I tried multiple different bits and it just wasn't working for me. I think it's because the distance between where the plate bolts on the top, and where you are actually cutting allows some play. Anyway, both ways work, but I found this way easier. Maybe Harry can try it this way on the next one and give the definitive answer on which way was easiest. Or maybe he's so good that it makes no difference and he can do it with one hand blindfolded

Ah, interesting. Mine was bite-y too but I ran the saw in reverse for a bit and then switched to forward which seemed to help. As well as a longer pilot bit.

I know you found what works for you but just typing this out for anyone else who hasn’t done the install yet.

Drivers side is done. No surprises. My battery cutoff tray and blue sea terminal block tray bolted right up with no mods required. I highly suggest 1/4-20 rivnuts for mounting stuff like that. Keeps you from having to take parts of the inner fender apart to access the attaching hardware. I also used rivnuts for the fender bolts to the inner fenders.
I’ll make a post to my build thread soon to list other things I did to make things easier to install IMO. Body line ended up the same as before the install. I could have done better but I’m lazy and it’s good enough.

For what it’s worth, the carbide tip hole saws are a lot more friendly in this department. They also cut a whole lot cleaner and last longer if taken care of properly.
