Sounds like your state is run by a bunch of communists….. Here in Michigan our fix for a bad cat is to delete that too. Plugged up charcoal canister? Loop the lines.

Sure it’s not an axle bearing? They sure do sound like a bad diff. We put them in the air and run them to about 40mph and scope each side. They get LOUD on the tacos.

Just need to flash back to stock for inspection. Buddy did his inspection last week and was just fine. Obviously need to swap anything that will fail you on the visual inspection as well

Pretty interesting. Can’t say I’ve heard that kind of noise come from a diff.

Back to the shop just like mine. Was excited to go overlander hunting yesterday since the overland expo is in town. Got to my first beverage stop and noticed I had some leaky cv boots and opted to turn around and head home. So…fresh boots and grease this week along with a steering pump kit install hopefully before we leave for camp friday. If not then oh well.

I will say after my Friday night run and yesterday morning run I got back to contemplating the steering quickener again. Something was in my head that had me running 5-10mph faster than I usually do through a few sections and while the truck handled it fine (granted not quite as smooth as slower speeds) I was definitely sawing at the wheel a lot more as I skipped through the whoops

U-joint or an absolutely whipped carrier is immediately where my head went. That kinda noise coming from a diff would surely show some form of play in the pinion. At least in my opinion.

Just sounds so much like a driveshaft. I’ve never heard a diff make that kind of noise. Crazy

I can't leave anything well enough alone
To me that clunk sounds like once per wheel revolution, not once per driveshaft rev. Obviously only under load

Pretty much done. Passenger side stuff mounted up nicely. Overall extremely happy with the quality and fit of the JDfab parts especially since I don’t have a core support at all, I was easily able to make it work for my truck. Even without the top of the inner fenders not tied in yet it is still very strong.
Used the old ABS module mount and it worked out like a champ.

pretty much looks exactly as it was when I started.

That sounds like DS speed more than rear. I've heard similar in a rear but it wasn't as consistent since it was from a chipped tooth it would skip sometimes and not make noise.

I bet the diff has a broken tooth on the pinion gear.. Unfortunately I pretty much know what a broken ring gear sounds like as a opposed to a broken pinion gear on our 3rds. I just swapped in my spare diff a few nights for the same problem.

This is my 9th maybe 10th broken rear since owning my junk.
