I smoked my Zuk setup cryo gears in two trips. With the supercharger, large tires, and higher gear ratios, gotta change out the rear end. Strange enough, stock gears will last forever.

Yes, this is the answer. Wish I had of started with the 9” instead of the Dana 60. The 60, is massive.

No question about it, he’s the best in the business. Which is while I knew 4:88’s were not long for this world with my setup. Covering the gears is great gesture, but the cost of the bearings, and down time is too much for me. The teeth on the 4:88’s were just too small for the additional loads.

Isn't excalator easier that the hard stuff at Pritchett?

You also have a 3rd gen with the bigger gearset haven't seen too many of them fail unlike the 2nd gen and smaller 3rd gen rears.

You guys are hard on stuff lol. ECGS did my gears 40k miles ago. They’ve survived 33’s, 35’s, and now 37’s. I would have thought a manual would be harder on them, but I’m definitely starting to wonder about that. Granted, I know it’s not the strongest rear in the world. But damn.

Is this mostly on the e-locker rears? I know the non e locker has a pretty solid advantage with the girdled bearing caps.

My ecgs rear with e locker lasted 5 years and about 55k miles of heavy abuse on 33’s then 35’s and the final year and a half on 37’s. The key is to just drive smart. Even with the bigger rear ended now I’m gonna keep driving smart because the front

Yeah, its all about finesse sometimes. Wheel hop can and will kill the toughest diffs out there. The problem doesn't always lie in the part.

One of these is not like the other. I would suggest this order of moving up the food chain in Moab, not needing a winch or tug before you move to the next: Rim>Trifecta>Cliffhanger>Behind the Rocks>Pritchett

Having done both, yes, significantly. Escalator can be done on 285's with a good spotter that knows the line. Pritchett, not so much. Escalator essentially can't change in difficulty as it is entirely in slickrock, while Pritchett continues to get more dug out and harder.
