Still a daily driver? I'm right at the point where I'm in between deciding where I want this to eventually end up. Foresee it being a dd for at least another 2-5 years. I mostly just upgrade things as they fail, and the LCA's are next at 85k miles. and I think that's where I may split off from mid to long travel setup...

Just call them. And honestly, I would rather no weak links. The slide rack is stupid solid. I've stuffed my 37's hard several times this year and I have yet to knock anything out of alignment.

I'll find out soon. The tundra rack gets moved forward a bit from the OE rack location also.

I think I'm just going to commit some time to figuring out how to boot the driver side of the rack with the slide rack. It would solve all my worries

If you find a way, fill me in. Because I sure cant figure out a good way that doesn't require replacing boots constantly from being pinched. And I sure wish I could.

Even if it's not 100% sealed, it will still keep most of the shit out, which is probably what's going to end up happening, but I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe nothing, dunno yet

I think not being fully sealed is probably worse than being open. At least with it open you can blast the crap out for the most part

It’s not really a daily driver as I vanpool into work. But it is my main mode of transportation outside of work. But I could daily it if needed, hell it’s better on the street now vs when I bought it IMO. I do have 2 other vehicles I can use when needed if goes down for repairs. But I never built this with the intent of it being a trailer queen. Though that could change someday too. Lol

Yeah I’ll call them and ask some questions. If I could keep the factory mounting locations I would definitely prefer that.

:lalala: You're right though, but I'm expecting some of these builds to end up a tacoma cab on a tube frame by the time some of them are 'done'.

Guarantee mine is headed down that road. Trouble begins when I get another daily. Aka, another taco to start the mad process over.

I dunno, fully open hasn't been working out too well for you so far. Can only try

Well, I wasn’t in the mud with it since the last round. I’m starting to question if it’s pressure related, tire related or dirt related. I’m baffled on it this time because I’ve been super mindful of the issue. Had it on the rack yesterday and sure as shit it’s dripping again. I do have a whole lot of miles on everything since install. I’m on a serious hunt for a solution at this point.

You need to put a windshield washer nozzle down there and just hit it every once in a while while you are off road

Which brand rack are you changing out? My 1st gen only seemed to like the Napa Gold and Toyota racks. The other part store and reman brands had their lifetimes measured in months. I guess it was a good thing the warranty is lifetime cause the parts themselves are often garbage.

The only OE fit parts I buy are actual OEM parts. This rack was brand new when installed at the end of April.

Maybe pull it apart and polish the shaft and put new seals in it.

That’s what I did last time lol.

I’ll post some pictures of the guts of these racks tomorrow, I have one apart in my basement brainstorming a way to make this work.

Anyone that installed the lca pivot what material skid plate are you running? It says it comes with aluminum but I thought i remembered reading that a steel one could be swapped in. I dont get into the bigger rocks but i wonder if the weight difference is that much more. Might be worth it for the added security

From what I could tell with my calibrated eyeball, I bet the weight difference is negligible.
