    I'm okay with cans of worms if it's worth the effort, the only thing I don't really want to do yet is an internal cage in the cab. One day, but not yet. It rains a lot here, and it seems like internal cages have the potential to leak a lot where it enters the cab at the back. At least on all the ones I've seen. One thing at a time.

    Looks like the LCA mount kit showed up at the border today. I'm going to try and get across next week. Hopefully they let me through the border!

    The snowball effect from needed an engine cage is that it really should be built off of the cab cage. And if you’re gonna do a proper cage the entire interior needs to be gutted and the inner sheet metal cutout so you can tuck the cage.

    As for weather proofing I’ve always welded the tubes that come out of the cab directly to the sheet metal. Tig welded Silicone bronze is the way to go

    An engine cage tied into a cab cage is certainly going to be stronger, since it's got more length, tie points and triangulation; is there some other reason not to do a a standalone engine cage first?

    You can always do an exo cage on the cab. Not as strong as an internal cage, but you get to keep the airbags

    I like to build engine cages off the cab cage that way the tubes from the a pillar and dash bar are continuous all the way out to the front. I have built engine cages first in the past and then added a cab cage later... I’m just not a fan of sleeving things together

    Definitely on the bucket list one day. Good to know about just welding the body straight to the cage!

    I've thought about it, but I prefer the internal cage for a bunch of reasons. My truck doesn't have airbags other than the steering wheel and passenger front anyway, which I'm sure you can keep either way. 2006 doesn't have a lot of those kinds of features actually haha no traction control or anything else

    Yes sir, running inset wheels so the track width puts the tires about flush with the stock fenders

    I thought you were selling his old fenders? So why not get wheels with a little less backspace for a wider track width and to fill the fiberglass?

    We are still doing offset wheels and glass but wanted to cycle it with this setup so you have the option of running stock fenders
