Crazy how much taller the fenders sit.

 

CAUTION - useless information in my head dump …so i recently learned that there is a safety regulation that caused that inch taller fender. i personally don’t lime that taller body look on most nee cars and trucks. i think we all knew the longer front end was to meet the new pedestrian impact standards but it turns out the taller fenders is too. specifically the hood has to be farther away from any solid objects underneath it so that it creates a softer impact zone on the hood in the event of a pedestrian impact…the more ya’ know…

 

Moral of the story, people need to stop jumping out in front of vehicles.

I'm going to try installing the slide rack this weekend, without cutting the rack so I can leave the boot. See how it goes and how much steering angle is lost. I don't think much, and only to the passenger side anyway, so I can still do a U-turn if necessary.

Lol selective left turns only. Mine definitely bottoms out on the clevis plate with the cut side. I can test this out for you in a parking lot. I’ll turn about where it would bottom out if you didn’t cut the rack. Though I’m +4 so I might have less radius to begin with.
I can try to make a video or measure full lock u turn vs held back where the clevis has about an inch gap from bottoming out.

I wish you the best in your endeavors. I would recommend that you go ahead and make the cut and install the secondary seal. Or don’t install the rack at all and do a 200 or tundra rack but losing that much turning radius is going to be hilarious

 

Only one way to find out, and I can always pull it out and cut it if it's too bad. Just want to experiment with it.

The tundra rack would have probably been the better option, but I need something that pushes the tie rods forward because even with the LCAs in the furthest back position, they rub the coilovers pretty bad. I don't think the tundra rack pushes the tie rods forward as much as the slide rack does.

I also got one of the original LCA kits so I only have pucks that let me set the LCAs fully forward, or fully back. The new kits have increments. Though I'm sure Harry would send me the new ones if I asked nicely.

 

And for the record, there's a 50% chance I just cut it any way haha

 

I’ll get you some data this weekend! Lol I’ll head down to one of the school parking lots around the corner. Do some U turns full lock and stopped early. I’ll go have to measure steering wheel position where the rack would not be cut first to get my approximate turning angle.

 

You’re probably going to break the end of the rack if you don’t cut it.
