    Too many to remember
4.5 BS fits no problem. 3.5 is unnecessary

Looks like 17's make a pretty big difference over a 16". I know if I had a bearing go, my tire will be on the gusset. I don't know if I have a full 1/8" at my tightest spot. In fact, I have rubber marks on my gussets as it is with good bearings.

Shit happens. Buy good components and worry less.

Tall skinnies are always an option. Less weight, more clearance, better in some situations over a wider tire. But availability and price is your trade off. AT BFGs have been fantastic and they are everywhere or less than a day wait for most tire shops.

I can get any tire I want next day so that's not a problem. These are my winter set. I like a nice fat tire for around here because of snow and soft ground. Been on that skinny wagon before and they just don't get it done around here. I really don't care that it's a tight fit, but I thought it was important to note as 16's with 315's are common. And you can run the best quality bearing out there and still blow one out and have a problem in this situation.

Yea, we have it really good now with tire selection, availability and compounds. Imagine this same convo pre internet? I remember what that was like. It's too easy now and too many choices.

I've ran so many different tires it's ridiculous, I have the luxury of buying tires at cost so I buy and sell tires for myself all the time. Honestly the Baja Boss's that I have on my bead locks now are hands down the best tire I have ever had the pleasure of running. I'll probably be stuck with them for a while.

Often. I can run in soft sand 2wd not aired down. The tight center in my opinion is what makes this happen.

Good to know. Clears spindle gussets? I think it was ronron possibly that had some issues with offset or something So thought id ask. Was sitting in my truck at the lumber yard this morning looking at second gen with a Camburg setup and it didn’t seem too wide. I was dead set on the 2.25” when the $ is right but got me thinking. I know its a 1/2” less each side but a 4” setup with a 3.5 backspacing, if thats what was required, seems a little too wide for where i go

    I’m still 16s 3.5BS. I will be switching to a 17in wheel when I redo my sua.

Yeah they’re good people over there and make a great product. And you’re right, valving is definitely not one size fits all but they can usually get things close. Getting the wife a set of coil overs and triple bypasses for her 4Runner. Should be a sweet ride when it’s done

Was probably me. I'm running 17" with 4.75" bs and the wheel and tire easily clear the spindle. Only issue I had was the inside of the wheel rubbed on the lower limit strap bolt. Moved the bolt in and no more worries

It’s interesting how some of you are able to run 4.75. Obviously it boils down to tire section width, or what spindle gussets you’re running. At 4.5 I get enough deflection that the tire kisses the gusset. Not really harmful. But I’d never get a 4.75 on mine. At least in a 16”
