My truck definitely had an overheating issue on slow 4lo trails

Aluminum radiator was the ultimate fix.

Ordered my Kings from JD on Tuesday. I was naive thinking it was still a 15 week lead time ( I think I read that somewhere in the thread here but it must have been well outdated). Got an email a few minutes later asking to confirm the order since it would be an approximate 10 month lead time now. Gotta say JD’s customer service is top notch. I ordered a mcneil kit through a local company and when I called months later to check on it, they still hadn’t even ordered it. Much different experience over here. 10 months should be enough time to get everything else bought and ready to go, all we need now is that beautiful slide rack to work for the 3rd gens and I’ll be set.

For any of you 3rd gen owners thinking of doing full heim steering like this. Not sure if the 2nd gen rack is the same? You have to take a small amount of material out of the rack housing on the driver side for the bolt that holds the inner heim to the clevis to clear. If you don’t take material out, you will be bottoming the bolt out on the rack housing at full lock. If you want to install a rack boot, Dorman part# 03670 works for the passenger side. I am searching for a boot that will work with the driver side. I used these clevis mounts from camburg.

Yep, Not sure how crazy I want to get with swaps. If there was a semi easy upgrade I’d consider it. I know it’s the weak point now. My suzuki samurai has considerably stronger steering.

I had to do the same thing on my tundra rack install. Not much needs to be filed off, maybe 3/16" at most.

Yep, and just were the bolt will contact, I also removed the washers on that side because those were hitting first.
