FYI, 4130N was less than DOM for tubing last month. Not sure about the world we live in today....

FWIW you can buy a 20’ length of 4x3/16 flat bar where I’m at for under 100$. It would be more than sufficient for your needs.

Online metals is not cheap. Try going to local places and see what you can get it for sometimes you can get decent drops and stuff that are a lot cheaper. You could plate with 1/8th if you wanted that would double the thickness of the current frame.

Nice, didn't think of that. 1/8 or 3/16 preferred?

Personally I think 3/16 would be best. But either way you go it’s going to be substantially stronger than smacking a few squares on the frame.

Went ahead and got the battery. Got the smaller size 24f because I think I will do a double setup eventually. I also think they will be easier to fit behind the seat. This one still has more cca than my original. Safety reminder I wear a respirator and glasses with side shields when grinding and welding. I still managed to get a big chunk of metal lodged in my eye. Could of been a lot worse. The doctor said I got pretty lucky it was just the white part of my eye and not my pupil or else I would of lost some vision. Just ordered goggles I will use from now on. Just remember simple things can prevent a lifetime of regret if something bad happened. Everyone stay safe.

That eye stuff is no joke. I have a permanent rust stain in my right eye from a good chunk a few years back. One quick cut and said I’ll be fine and didn’t grab my shield because it was all the way across the shop. I now have multiple shields so that’s never an excuse again.

Yeah the doc said I will have a scar from this one and luckily was able to get most of the rust ring out. Lesson learned.

This is officially the worst project I've ever taken on. Even over 1,000hp car builds. Freight company officially somehow managed to "lose" my fiberglass I waited 3 months for. Fiberwerx certainly isn't much help in the situation, either. If it's not one thing, it's another with this damn thing.

These are troubling times for projects in general. Best to try and reset expectations, no one seems to have control over their supply chain or delivery post sale. Real world expectations based on pre Covid era experiences are null and void. It's rare for people to meet the timelines they give these days, and if you get a timeline at all it's 12 months out.

If it comes down to it, I'll run it without glass and deal with that mess next year. Just sucks when annually you have a 3 month window to work with to do something like this and even though you plan way ahead it still fights every step of the way. I'm also the king of bad luck, so that certainly doesn't help.

You still having issues with steering? I’m having some issues with mine. Same tires Yokohama Mt 35/12.5/17, AEV crestone beadlocks. I’ve had them road force balanced 2 times, tires are centered on the beadlock ring, broke all the beads 2 times and rotated the tire where it would take the least amount of weight. Truck rides like absolutely crap compared to my 33s. All my steering is brand new heim set up, feels no different that stock steering. Castor is 3.5 degrees, camber is -0.2., toe is 0. Jb lower pivots are pushed all the way forward, brand new jd upper arms. Not sure what the heck is going on.

Mine actually ride really well. After rotating I had a shaking wheel. With my 33’s I had so many issues with weight balancing I decided to try the balancing beads. I just was really careful when mounting the tires and put the red dots on the valve stems. I have 6oz in the tires now and did notice a minor difference. I’m going to put 6 more ounces this weekend to see if it takes the shaking away.

Had much less time to work on this than I had hoped. Made some progress today. Mounted the fuse box and had to head to work.

    Feels so solid.

@81Trekker do you know if the howe TC pump kit fits the 2.7 engine?

    Edit: more specifically the pulley.
