Highly recommend fusing that at the battery end of the cable as well. This is a very good solution: https://www.bluesea.com/products/5191/MRBF_Terminal_Fuse_Block_-_30_to_300A

Thanks! Yeah I’ll do that. There wouldn’t really be a need for it until I started added a winch and other accessories though right? Since it’s still just stock currently.

all depends on your system. is it fusing between the battery and everything? your alternator has either i think a 100 or 120 amp fuse (tow package).
While these are an expensive route i would rather run this than a fuse since if you accidentally short something and it blows the main fuse your SOL until you can get another one. https://www.bluesea.com/products/7149/187-Series_Circuit_Breaker_-_Surface_Mount_200A

You wouldn’t be SOL as long as you make the cables long enough to just go directly to the battery in the event you pop that fuse, you could carry a spare.

It’s really to protect your vehicle from a vehicle fire. That’s a long run of thick gauge wire and if it were to chafe and ground out, there’s nothing to stop it. Or in the case of an accident and the wire severed, same thing.

Why not use a resettable circuit breaker? I have two large battery cables running behind the rear seats and used circuit breakers with no problems.

any one here running 35s on 16in wheels?
Im looking at these, they are D not E at least. Im a bit worried about clearance to my gusseted JD uprights as its close on my current 285/75-16 with zero offset Method 16x8. its a 12.5 wide tire vs my current 11.2, but its also taller. That max width is usually more toward the O.D of the tire right? ... Im still a bit skeptical.
Im honestly just trying to avoid buying new wheels.

Might be close. I use my stock wheels with 285/75/16 tires when I tow and they clear everything without wheel spacers. If nobody has an answer I’ll know in a few days. I just bought some method 703 wheels 16x8 and 315/75/16 Toyo at3 tires.

I bet they will rub. My 285/75/17 on a zero offset 8.5" wide wheel only has about 3/8"-1/2" of clearance.

i'm running exactly that set up. I have the ever so slightest rub on my JD gussets. Its just barely polishing the gusset and its just the letters of the tire doing it. Im not to concerned about it. But I plan on going to 17 inch wheels sooner or later.

I am going to buy that terminal fuse. What size should I get? 200? Essentially you are just protecting it from a short which should blow any size fuse.

Only way to go. 16” options are dying off pretty fast. Not to mention, 16’s leave no room for brake upgrades.

I’m using some brake pads made by black magic brakes. They’re big in the Jeep world. Best pad you can put on these rigs. My rig stops really good on 33s and 35s.

All depends on what you’re doing. I run all EBC on mine and have really liked it. But I do get brake fade in the go fast stuff and that’s not so cool. Best way to fix that is by going bigger. And a 16” wheel won’t allow for it.

I would highly recommend giving these brake pads a shot. They’re better than EBC pads.

Not going to get in a debate on this considering this was about wheels. I run an aggressive pad as it is. A heat soaked rotor is a heat soaked rotor. Can’t really fix that unless you go bigger.

I would agree, I install big brake kits on Jeeps all the time. At some point there is nothing you can do but go bigger to stop properly. But it all gets upgraded master, caliper, rotors and pads.

    Your point?

And FWIW black magic doesn’t even list pads for a Tacoma, nor is there a single review about them anywhere involving a Toyota.
