My point is I agree that going bigger with brakes is the end goal if your brakes are fading with 35” plus tires or heavy use. We don’t always go that route depending on what the customer wants to spend, sometimes they just get pads and rotors. You’re not going to find reviews because they’re not sold to the public for Toyotas.

Funny guy! Look at the reviews they get for Jeeps. I’ll be getting a few more sets pretty soon. I’d be willing to send you a set, if you don’t like them, send them back. If you like them, pay me for them.

Worked fine pulling a taco and a ranger after I wired it up on the trail
What sold me on it was the video on youtube of a guy literally winching his 4R into the air till it was sitting on the receiver hitch.

Not knocking them my Jeep has one on the front I had a smitty on the taco and now I'm going with Warn 9rc. Was joking about them needing a switch due to poor electrical.

From what I read they are the same internals as Warn, but the grease is lower quality.

I'd have to tear them down and actually see that for myself to believe it. To the naked eye they may look that way but the gears could be a powdered steel vs cast or forged. Same goes with the relays and stuff. I won't believe it unless there is actual proof show me not just tell me. There are a lot of rumors and false info surrounding what HF makes and where other companies they compare themselves are made. Unless there is actual empirical proof of this and not just some internet forum jabber then I'd be hard pressed to believe it.

Can't find it now. Might've been proven wrong and taken down. Don't know. But aside from the VR series warn winches, I could buy a couple HF for the price of warn.

Warn VR is made in china and the bigger winches are partially made in the US, I don’t think they make any made in USA claims? Personally I would only pay more for a fully USA manufactured product.

I have a 400A ANL fuse and a battery switch I am going to wire in this month for my Warn VR 10s. I wasn’t able to find a 400A breaker or I would have preferred to go that route. I just bought a spare fuse to carry instead.

I mean we are paying 1000s of bucks on electronics like cell phones that are all made over in Asia. I get the sentiment though I am willing to pay more for US made products but even the ones assembled in US are better than nothing. Along those lines if you really look there are still lots and lots of things made here in the US that aren't more expensive than their over seas counterparts. For me a lot of it has to do with the quality of parts that something is made of not just where.

Yeah that’s true. I just like to try to support US jobs by purchasing US made products whenever possible. I’m sure the quality differs in china products. And something made here with foreign products is better than it made in china at least.

When I was pricing out winch’s. The main issue with the Apex I found was the relay contactor used is pretty shitty. Plus 90 day warranty and once you add in the price of the 2yr warranty from Harbor Freight. It’s the same cost as a VR from Warn.
Plus the VR from warn has a 7yr electrical warranty and lifetime mechanical. Same as the Zeon series and US made winches.
So while yes it’s about ~$200 cheaper than a Warn. If it fails past 30-90days. On you to fix.
As far as any other “China” winch. Smitty and others are all the same as Apex.

Not sure about other brands but smitty does offer a lot better warranty than HF

Well, it appears as though my fiberglass has miraculously reappeared in the system, and I should have it this week. Looking like the truck will go under the knife starting this weekend
