That driver front bolt I was fighting to get it to sit right but that was the only way I could get it to sit in the tabs properly. I mean as long as it’s locked down where it’s at it should be fine right? I might re-do it when I do my slide rack. I just want to understand it. But I can’t seem to understand the difference between the 2 options and the proper orientation. I messed with it for like an hour trying to see if it would click in my brain but it just never did. I’ll probably just have Harry explain it to me when I go get the slide rack.

Here is one I just did where they are both set outboard... and for the record I always set them outboard to start

Trust me.....I had the same issues getting my head around it also. But the rear config the way it is could be why you cant get more caster.

Ya you told me that. That’s how I had it at first then rotated them because I was second guessing myself. I’ll probably just re-do it when I do the slide rack. I think I just need to mess with it more till it clicks in my brain.

It’s about tread length, not width. Think of tank tracks.

Yes and no. It's about flotation in general same height tire a wider one has more flotation than a skinnier one. If it were solely about length of tread then those artic explorer trucks wouldn't run like 4' wide tires. They would just run them really tall. Also a big factor is tread design and choice of tire for certain offroad terrain.

Actual footprint has wayyyy more to do with it than tread length. Personally speaking I went from 285’s to 255’s in the same tire and it was a downgrade in a big way for me any time it came to sand, mud or snow. Some guys love them, but it all depends on what you’re doing.

they definitely weren’t right(aligned to the outside) before the flip. It’s almost like you put them back the same way they came out.
I’m also one that was challenged by understanding the cam setup too, for the record.

Yeah it seems like something so simple but so confusing at the same time. Especially for people like me who don’t have a lot of knowledge in alignment stuff. You only have like 90 degrees of a turn before the teardrop maxes out. In my head I was trying to find the way that pushes the arm out the most but obviously my brain couldn’t figure it out.

Maybe I just need more alcohol and it’ll come to me.

its a next level challenge. I think the LCA kit is one of the most innovative solutions for the Tacoma, but it’s also a bit of a challenge to get your arms around.

Agreed. Install wasn’t too hard. Just A LOT of grinding. Cams were the thing that gave me a headache trying to understand.

So hopefully this isn’t a dumb question just trying to fully understand.
So in this picture if this is pushed all the way out you put the teardrop rotated as far left as you could with the skinny side of the washer out on the opposite side. Then rotate as far as you can clockwise?

Not sure what it is you are struggling to understand. Is it understanding when the pivot of the arm is out or in?

I don’t know if you can see from this picture, but the bolt hole is not centered on the tear drop. It’s offset to the left here. Once installed, when looking from the front, this would put the passengers side arm in a position to be more outwards(negative camber) than if it was flipped. The round cams for the back side of the bolt operate similarly. So you want them both in the same “phase”. This design allows for more adjustments in the slot. While still getting the locking force of the tear drop cam.

I understand that part I think. I think I’m just beating a dead horse. We can move on. I have to see it visually and physically how it works. I’ll just have Harry explain it to me when I get the slide rack. I don’t think over text it will click in my head. Thanks for the input so far though. Appreciate it.
