If you go through HP tuners you can basically disable any system you would like. So yes, it is doable. Just have to buy the stuff and learn or find someone that already has the knowledge.

 

Yes you can with hp tuner. I would get intermittent codes for the evap system and o2 sensors and would lose atrac and other traction control stuff. You basically tell the ecu not to worry about tripping those codes and they never will come back on. Atrac and the rest of the features will work as intended when you turn the codes off.

 

that’s good to know. I thought it was weird atrac wasn’t working when I didn’t clear the code. I find myself using it more and more especially if I think I’m bumping something too hard to use the locker. Maybe someone around here has the tuner software. I’d rather keep the evap stuff for the cost of buying and learning all that.

Strange that a vehicle would lose its traction control features when getting a not so important evap code…safety first? Haha

 

More and more vehicles are disabling cruise, abs and even remote start when a CEL pops. Basically inconveniences the owner enough to get it fixed.

I believe it’s more related as a fail safe since many of these features will include engine power modulation. They error on the side of caution of an evap code causing an engine to run out of parameter that may cause one of the nanny features to react incorrectly. Pretty much they’re covering their ass.

 

I finished installing the LCA pivot kit and have an alignment booked for Monday. What can I do to set my alignment at home to make things as easy as possible for them?

 

According to most of the literature we receive at the shop on the topic its mainly done as an inconvenience to people that live in non regulated states like Michigan. Most times on older vehicles people never want evap related stuff fixed because it has no relation or influence to engine performance. On the modern stuff that shuts down features used daily like remote start or cruise, people typically get irritated enough to fix it. So it does work in that manner whether that's the entire reason or not. Just what we've been told here.

 

That makes sense to me. I hate all this evap crap dangling around back there, but not enough to justify buying the HP tuner thing so I guess it’s going to stay.

 

I'm really considering getting the HP Tuner just so I can learn it and do this stuff. I really want to delete the SAIS since it's just wasted real estate in my engine bay.

 

Hewitt-tech sells a delete kit for secondary air injection. All plug and play.

Yeah, its a waste of space, the cause of "Taco Farts", and prone to failure especially if you leave in the factory foam filter.

 

Not a terrible price. its about $600 for the HPTuner (plug/software + 4 credits)
