The shim will lower your rear probably 1/4" with the Sua. Also I've seen two kinds of shims. Some that just slip between, and some that actually have the center pin go through them. I don't totally trust the slip in ones personally, but they are a 100x easier to install

A little lower wouldn’t bother me at all. And yeah, I went with the Tom woods shims that have a hole and not a slot. I also didn’t get a good vibe from the slotted ones.

Ah these were the ones Harry was telling me about. I’ve been debating on leaving it long bed or shorten it a lot and just notching the cab. Original plan was just go as far as possible without cab notch. Kinda looks like I’ll only be able to shorten the long bed 4-6 inches and keep the shocks out of the cab. We will see when I get the axle and links under the truck.

    Check My Sig.
Put the spot where the battery is supposed to go to good use this weekend.

And yes, I need to find a cover for my power distribution block. The one I bought does work.

I have the relocation kit as well as the spin on adapter from Baxter. I’m currently using just the adapter. I need to make lines for the relocation kit. The problem isn’t the housing, according to Harry it’s the entire heat exchanger that will need to be relocated sadly.

Just needs a better frame, better engine, better front and rear suspension, better sound deadening, better core support/fenders, and you got yourself the best midsize truck platform ever. :boink:

That's why I bought into it. :bananadead:

Let’s be real, no truck on the market has ever been “built to our standards”. That’s what makes it fun.

True, true. My Taco has been a fun heck of a project that I still get to enjoy driving every day. Which cannot be said for every platform out there, nobody is modifying colorados or new rangers like this. Only other truck I see people really cutting up are the old rangers, broncos, and jeeps. No comparison between them and the tacoma.

The irony is the 80’s straight axle Toyota’s were way more capable for all the rock donkey stuff especially with a $300 set of transfer case gears.

Question is, how many left them on stock tires and suspension and everything else? Let’s face it, we all have an addiction to building shit. That’s why I’ll never own a brand new vehicle, I’d fuck the warranty up within a month.
