    Always playing catch up.
Nah, I like my GFC to much for easy camping. But, before the GFC cage is where the truck was starting to head.

I already have the archive towers. Which we did create a cross bar between them through the bed. Which made a huge difference also.
I have to call ADS tomorrow anyways, if they havent started the new rears then options are open.

I did some math, with the GFC and if loaded down for my long trips. 705# back there, including the GFC, spare etc. Not sure if the HD70 be ok with that or Alcan needs a call.

It would probably be easier to cut off the rear frame rails of his truck and weld them onto you truck

Even if all I need is the springs, spring mounts and shock mounts? I take the shock mounts are welded on but shouldn't the spring mounts? Unless more was done which I suspect was.

His truck also has the frame boxed and fuel cell. Ideally you would take the entire rear section... axle, bed tub, shocks and all

Working on the lca pivots install, just want to confirm that the front pivots sit slightly higher compare to the rear? Frame crossmember is bent - do I need to tweak it to have pivots more level? Everything is tight against the frame BD982900-1251-4747-82A4-284A9AE72DF6.jpg FAD0FA60-017A-4D2F-B678-A9198325366B.jpg

Do you want my rear end? It's got 5.29s, factory e-locker, spring under perches, and repositioned lower shock mounts....

When I talked to Deaver about this they stated once you get close to 500lbs or over go with the HD's

All I got was a cryptic, you'll be pushing the limits of the springs. Which when I'm loaded is when I need them to perform while im cruising down two tracks at speed.

I can't leave anything well enough alone

As an owner of a heavy truck I can offer some thoughts. I do not have nor do I intend to do a spring under conversion FWIW. I did order and receive a set of custom Deaver XXHD versions of the u402 and haven't installed yet. But I've weighed, and was astounded how different actual was compared to theoretical. placement of the weight matters, stuff in the back seat matters, and all the little things that you don't think of to add up, really add up. I don't know how you will tell the exact "sprung" weight added to a truck compared to stock. That is the number Deaver seems to want, but it just isn't accurate to calculate, at all. Scaled weight on the axle is accurate. and I think for these purposes we can just cancel out the unsprung weight since the only real difference from one truck to the next is the tire, wheel, and spring pack - and the difference from one truck to the next might be 100lbs total, divide that between two springs so in my opinion it is negligible. Just assume all tacomas have the same unsprung weight so it cancels out

All that being said, I would be shocked if you were only 705lbs over fully loaded and wet. I just don't see it even though your math is correct. I'd bet that your rear axle weight is closer to 1000 than it is 705 if you are true with what you will be carrying, passengers, gear in backseat, and the tools/spares, cooler/ice, camping gear and water. Are you solo every time or at least most of the time? That could be a difference compared to my own situation, with a family.

All of this is just information from my perspective. I have no idea if the x70HD will support your truck or not. Nor do I know what is available from Deaver, but I'd guess they can make a custom leaf pack out of thicker leaves and it would be similar to my 'xxhd' version of a u402... same count and length, just thicker leaves to make up the pack...

Oops, my mistake. But regardless when you call deaver for custom springs they ask how much weight has been added to the back compared to stock, a number that is really impossible to get accurately especially considering they don’t even account for what model truck it is starting with (dclb vs dcsb will have different spring needs just from the wheelbase and axle location alone). Wish they would base it on axle weight or some other measurable metric.

Don’t know about Alcan. Maybe I’m being too picky and it doesn’t matter as much as I think since there are only so many different spring packs to choose from anyway they just want to put you into a range/category of weight and sell you that spring.

my guess is that the Heavier leaf pack for spring under still won’t be enough for you. Probably will need to ask them about adding another leaf or a custom pack.

Alcan wants axle weight. What mods. What your doing with the truck etc.
they made the leafs for TrailMator and Matt’s Offroad. After talking to JD they use em also for heavier chase trucks.
I do need to weigh the truck for better axle weights this weekend.
Should be lighter than before. Was at 6200 with heavy plate bumpers and decked full of tools. Decked is gone. Heavy bumpers gone.
