Everything around the JD kit. I have no doubt the kit would hold up just fine.

I'll be clearancing for 40's in the new year. The only thing stopping me actually installing them is the stock rear end currently. Also, it would be nice to have more power.

Had the kit on for just over a week now. It's way too high. The truck is sitting slightly nose-up with deaver u402 stage 2 leafs in the back along with 400lbs of sand in ammo cans in the back. I need to remove a leaf or two out of the pack to bring the rear down as well. I don't have spanner wrenches for the coil overs though, But I did notice something a bit odd. The Part number on the coils indicate they are 18 x 600lb. I should have noticed this earlier but the coils were delivered while I was out on deployment and I didn't even think to check the part number when I got home. I had ordered the 16x650s since I have a steel bumper, winch, skid and sliders. Did king supplement these longer but lighter springs in on purpose? If I max these out will I be able to get the front down enough?

So I am just testing the slide rack before welding in the tabs. Its really hard to move just by pushing and pulling. I'm assuming it's just resistance in the rack and pinion as when I connect the steering wheel it turns smooth with little resistance. I loosened everything to see if it wasn't aligned properly but didn't make a difference. Just wanted to make sure it's normal before welding the tabs in? What's the best way to double check to make sure the rack and slide are properly aligned?

Do you notice the same resistance with the rack only? Or when you put the slide rack in the equation? What type of lube did you use on the slide rack? I had to shim some of my mount points once it was all burned in. I noticed resistance and sticky steering before I shimmed.

It seemed like the slide was already pre oiled. Is the Allen in the center for a zerk fitting? What's the proper way to lube the slide?

I can't push the rack and pinion back and forth on its own. It has quite a lot of resistance. So I am assuming it is just the resistance in the rack and pinion. With the steering wheel attached it feels smooth and can't feel any points where it feels like it grabs or changes resistance. It feels pretty consistent lock to lock...

Mine has a zerk but I pointed it upwards. Harry recommended using wd40. If most of the resistance seems to be from the rack, and using the slide in junction doesn’t seem to change or bind it up from lock to lock you should be fine.

Okay thanks. I'll keep messing with it just to double check. But knock on wood, hopefully there won't be any issues.

Take some preload out of the springs.

The JD kit is spec'ed with 18x600 springs. Check with vendor that there wasn't a mix up..though it's used and after a certain time period. Also, remove preload..

I also had 18”x600 at one point and was way too high, as well as someone else in another thread (though I don’t remember if he had JD or not). It’s just too much coil in my experience.

I would leave the rears for now and see if it settles at all before pulling any leafs out. It looks like you have an inch of threads showing on the coils so you realistically could probably lower the front by almost 2 inches.

I should also add he can only remove so much preload because the hose gets in the way. I ran into the same problem and couldn’t get the upper coil seat much higher than he’s already got it and that was after clocking the hose to gain a little clearance.

But I’ll agree to get that upper coil seat as high as you can get it and see where that puts you.

Need to give springs time to settle. My truck sits at stock ride height on 18x600’s. Took some time for it to settle in though. My bumper with winch is very light as well. New springs just need to be worked for a bit before they settle in.

Here’s how mine is sitting on the 18x600’s. Bumper MIGHT be 125-150lbs with the winch in it. Get it out and get things moving. It will come down. And you can take all but like 1-2 turns of preload out of the coilovers yet. That alone will drop the front 1.5” plus.

Yeah this was the plan.. I know you inverted the bolts for the shock mount, but Having not done that I’m not sure how I’ll be able to get access to that nut once the collar is up that high.
