yeah I got lucky and bought all my cage material at my buddies in phoenix. He goes to one place for big orders of stuff and I think it was like 6.39 a foot for 10 sticks of 2”x .120 wall random lengths. Only ended up using 7 sticks I think so after doing the front I still have like 2 sticks to finish up my seat mounts and what not.

That’s a pretty solid price for the 2”. For whatever reason, west coast prices are lower. Which makes zero sense. I’m in the heart of steel making.

    Too many to remember
We are planning to go out Tuesday. I dropped 100lbs in spring rate, pulled all the bleed screws out of the coil overs, went down to 8’s on the rebound and 15’s on compression. I’m a little torn because it does really good through the big stuff but definitely left something to be desired in the smaller bumps

I'm sure this has been answered already and I have read most of this thread but I cannot remember.. What's the difference between the 2.25 kit that is for use with the lca pivot kit and the kit with out? I'm probably doing things backwards but I would rather buy the LT kit first and put it on before I do the pivot kit. I'll eventually get around to doing the pivots I just don't know when I'll have the time to have someone weld it up to the truck. Curious if that is going to cause major problems or if I will be ok to get the normal kit then do pivots later?

    Whole lotta stuff
Should be no issues doing that. Lot of people on here run the LT kits without the pivots. Can always drive the hell out of it on the LT until the stock ears break and then go pivots.

Ok cool, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to run into issues by not getting the lt kit spec'd for those pivots. I got confused because the pivots say they work with all LT kits so I'm sure it's probably some minor adjustment they make.

I’ll watch it get loaded in Marquette. And listen to it get mined a few miles out my back door. Then pay that premium.

How much shock shaft should I have showing at hard bump? I’m setting it up with 1” left showing on the shock, upper uniball is not in bind and still has a little room to allow for frame flex. Same with the straps, setting them up with the shock stopping 1” before full droop. Sound right? So these bumped and strapped net something like 10” of wheel travel ish?

The rubber bumper on the shock shaft is not included when measuring shock travel. Personally, I would set bump based on off the ball joint. If you bought the shocks from JD you shouldn’t have to worry about the shock bottoming out.

You have the right idea of leaving enough travel for frame flex.

Shocks do not bottom out but the uniball is the limiting factor on full compression and extension. At hard bump the shock would need to move 5/8” in before the uniball binds. Just trying to get a reference as to how far away those numbers should be. Thanks

Very excited! We'll get some banger shots, no doubt about that. Too bad I had to bring the house instead of the taco, but I'd rather ride with you anyway haha

Watch your outer steering rod end also. It may max out before the upper ball joint does.

Good call, it’s close but not maxed out at full droop. Might need to move the strap from the bottom hole to the centered hole on the tab as a precaution.

I don't. Sorry. They don't even get close though with stock length. Not sure about the LT setups.

The pivot kit will work with any lt kit that uses the stock lower arm mounts, and to answer your question, the 2.25 kit is the same with or without the pivot kit.

After having gone thru installing one LT kit and reinforcing it and then changing over to a pivot kit and LT... Get the pivots first in my opinion if that was your plan. Having LT and building it on weak mounts counterintuitive in my opinion. You end up reinforcing it anyway. So you don't have to take it on and off. If you're building it for the gram/funsies, go LT first then lol.
