We were going to fly out this year but decided to hold out. If fuel prices come down for next year we are going to drag the truck out with us. Big big journey for us!

Why do so many people run these intakes? Just easier to mount than the stock one? I know at least on a 3rd gen you are going to get any additional performance out of them.

better filtration against fine dust. if you run the dunes/desert alot you will clog up a factory intake alot faster than the ump filter, theres alot more surface area on these than the factory filter.

Ah okay. That makes sense. When I first saw one on trekker’s truck I tried to figure out what it was and never did. Then I’ve seen them pop up a few times this week. Good time to ask. :)

I run a UMP on my class 9 VW buggy and haven't replaced the filter yet (2 years).

Also when you replace the fenders with JD or go cage. The stock intake becomes worthless.

For me that’s what I figured would be most useful. I’m having some trouble imagining how to mount my factory air box once I remove some of the wheel well (which includes the air box mount.

Go with the UMP or do a cowl intake.
    Disregard, you're a 3rd gen.

Already have the cowl intake done. Hopefully I can get the factory box mounted somehow.

I said disregard, because 2nd gens don't have a box. The filter is on the engine.

When I went up to 35’s and lost my inner liners I was sucking so much dust up that it was literally coding for MAF and lean conditions because the filter caked up so bad.

With the UMP it doesn’t seem to collect a whole lot of anything. I blow it out every oil change.

It’s not a performance upgrade. Neither is any intake system on the market. It’s more of a “avoid an engine replacement” upgrade.

The new spring under frame brace kits are now available. They come with a bolt on bump stop mount too. The shock towers are sold separately but bolt on to the frame brace and a new template is included making the bed notch very simple. The only welding is the spring perches and lower shock mounts. All pricing is on the web.
