Just noticed these on the site. Was there going to be a version of this that fits already welded on shock mounts?

I'm assuming you mean you already have a shock relocation done like an Archive kit? I have not heard anything about the frame brace being offered in a compatible version. Too many different relocation kits out there.

I notched the frame brace to fit with my relocation but there's the concern about cross sectional strength.

Notch the spring under brace and weld it on, the will be zero strength lost. Or cut the existing towers off and start over

I like Harry’s idea better and just notch the brace. But we’ll see how things line up once we start this little project

I have the jd kit installed. I can see now how much strength would be lost if it were notched around the welded on tower

Alright. This is for the slide rack guys. While the slide rack works amazing to prevent skipping teeth and broken racks, I have gone through 2 in the two years it has been on the truck.

I broke down my last rack to find out why I developed so much slop in the steering.

Long and short is, lack of lubrication is wiping out the preload slider. When the bronze insert is wore away the steel starts riding on the rack which starts loosening things up quick.

What I am trying this time around is I drilled and tapped the preload cap for a zerk, then drilled out the center of the bronze bushing.

I already grease the truck almost every weekend out so hitting one more zerk isn’t a huge deal and should help extend the life of the rack substantially. Or it might not work at all.

I know @snowsk8air2 is having the same issue as me which is substantial play in the wheel when it is centered.

Worth a shot at the very least. Costs about a dollar and 20 minutes of time. We shall see how it goes this year!

Pretty sure I’ve seen some pictures of that as well. Would be really cool to have an option like that. But I’m sure it comes with a heavy price tag too.

    I mean
You could contact Kevin at quixotic but I hear he stays busy.

If you have the time and inclination you could call LSK and see where they are with that kit

You doing this on a new rack or the old one? When I had mine out before koh I checked play with it on the bench and didn’t notice anything so I didn’t adjust the preload. I should have. It’s still bad and it’s the worst thing I hate about the truck lol. This will be the last time I mess with this steering setup. Then I’m going either full hydro or trying to figure out a swing set. Full hydro would be a lot easier

I got a reman rack this time around. Had no choice. My bar was wore so bad. Like decent light under a straight edge bad. I seriously feel like greasing it before you go out is going to save it. And let’s be real here, this is a budget steering setup. So if we can make it last that would be killer.

LSK race long travel, King 2.5x10 coilovers, 2.5x10 bypasses and 2.0 bumps. 2.5 Tundra fox rear DSC shocks, Icon RXT pack, Icon bump stops. 4.88 w/ TruTrac. AFE Y Pipe, URD cat-back. CSF radiator, OVT 91 tune, Ripp coil packs.
LSK was also going to do the front race hubs as well for the Tacoma, but last time I spoke with them both the swing steer and the race hubs were either put on indefinite hold or they are not longer going to do them I cant remember which one they said. So I believe the only steering option past the tundra rack or slide rack is the Quixotic.

@906taco I have a slide assist on mine. Sorry. Jumping in the middle of this. What issues are you finding? Is the steering assist rack failing and acquiring slop? Has it effected your original rack in the process? As a result you've replaced the steering assist rack twice already? Or can parts be replaced such as the bronze bushings? Currently daily driving mine for the past 4 months and finally had time to hit the trails these past couple weeks. Wondering how concerned I should be. Turning some 40s..

For people with the LCA pivot kit and JD Fab 0.25 caster stock length UCAs, what do you think the largest tire size you would be able to get away with, without having the chop up your fender flares? Assuming CMC and pinch weld hammered.

On mine I am currently using a 285/75/17 on a 17x8.5 0 offset/4.75 back spacing. No pinch weld work and stock cab mount, lower arm I think is 1/2 inch forward. Front bumper cover has been trimmed but will need more and I do plan on trimming fender flare. How much is the minimum? I don't know but I will be trimming 2.5" from flare for clearance and look. A 285/70/17 would probably be the largest with no flare trimming but front bumper cover may still need some for full bump at full or partial turn. At full turn/lock the tire may tuck in behind.
