Not sure there is actually a market for $9k+ Tacoma spindles

    Ok
didn't expect the spindle to be 9k. Figured ~10k would get a guy axles, arms, spindles and hubs more or less like the Solo XLT kit but not so wide

What’s the beef with taco hubs? I’m 3 years in on 37’s with mine no issue. 2 years of 35’s before that.

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
Probably cause Dana44 locking hubs exist and are already readily available on the market at most auto parts stores and the design to incorporate into a Tacoma is decently prevalent within off-road
Not to mention you can add blitzkreig locking rings to ensure the CV doesn’t loosen
I’m just stirring the pot tho

if I wanted a custom kit for a Tacoma that doesn’t exist
I’d want a 4WD J Arm since the quixotic kit is impossible to actually get

Seen a lot of bad wheel bearings and sheared studs. Can fix the stud issue with 5/8" studs. On my 37's, I would change an SKF unit bearing every 12-18 months.

The whole point of doing this was to keep the cost down. $9k would cover the cost of custom spindles, hubs, brakes etc. you will also need new axles and we would do a 934 outer CV so that gets factored in as well. At that point all you would be reusing is your lower arm.

What we are talking about is having a spindle/upper arm upgrade that doesn’t require all new everything

Not at all, with a vertical upper Uniball you can probably gain 3” of additional wheel travel on the 4” LT kit

We talking down travel? Or up and down? What’s involved with getting that much more travel? Can’t see getting anymore up unless the coil bucket gets replaced. At hard bump my shock is almost fully compressed. Plus or minus 1/4”.

Up travel, the axle will bind with anymore drop out. And all I’m talking about is what the kit will cycle, nothing to do with shocks. You will be on your own to fabricate an engine cage and mount 10” coil overs.

I mean at the end of the day is 12-18 months even something to think about at this stage? Especially when a timken is 80$?

Right, going 18 months without preping the front end on a real off-road truck is insane to me.
