I can't leave anything well enough alone
Sorry fellas, the peer pressure won't work this time for me. I already got a set of the LCA mounts, even though I paid retail only a few days before the GB was announced. And, I have my eye on the steering setup and have even talked to JD about it on the phone. I want to see some of the more finalized product installed/used and refined though first. I've been thinking of some ways to beef

On the axles, they are a great idea, great kit. Very well priced and no brainer if you are LT and need to buy axles anyway. Stock length is a little harder proposition. After all the talk and discussion and development had happened, I fell into a great deal on a set of RCVs that I'll be using, so I won't be signing up for the GB. If I had not my name would be on the list though.

Haven't really been active on TW in a while so I decided to see what's new and go figure there's a thread to drag me back to the dark side.

Just looked up the specs on the 934's and the verdict is in.....

    Those things are gnarly!

We have the upper arm uniball set up dialed in. All uniball kits come with machined aluminum inserts that accept 3/4” uniballs and then run seals on both sides to keep stuff out of the uniball

we had custom misalignment spacers made to accept the stock Tacoma upper arm bolt so these will bolt right up

The 934 CV is a proven solution.

Shall I sign you up for the group buy?

My biggest question on the axles is how difficult are they to install.. I believe I read the stock inner cv needs to be cut then the adapter welded too the cut portion?

Install will be the same difficulty as changing an OEM axle. Pop the old inner CV out of the diff; disassemble the spindle to release the outer CV; then reverse to install the new one.

JD Fab will take an old axle, cut and weld the adapter on; then install the 934 CV and boot, and send it to you for install on the truck. Either off your old axle or one of their cores.

The initial install of the new conversion will require a small cut-and-weld job on the frame to make the opening for the CV slightly larger. But that's literally just cutting a small hole with a grinder or plasma and then welding in the supplied plate.

I’m looking at buying long travel soon but I have no need for the lower arm relocation. Does the kit require it, or can I just upgrade to it later?

The LT kit and the LCA pivots are separate upgrades. You can do whichever you want first, then do the other later. If you're in for the LT you'll need axles, might as well upgrade those to the 934 CV...

Why +2.25 increase in width and not the “standard” +2? Were you able to cycle 13 inches?

If I want to tuck as much as possible within the stock fenders what is the max BS/offset wheels would you recommend for a 35x10.5R17 tire. Currently on on +0 17x8 but considering 4Runner wheels which are 7.5 +15.

Any shots of the truck on level ground? Curious about the ground clearance gained.

2.25 with +15mm BS gave us the perfect tucked look for no glass and 35’s. There are lots of pics of increased ground clearance in the thread

Thanks for the quick reply! I went back and looked at the pictures on page 55. I was hoping to see something at or near ride height?

I wish I was in a position to get in on the group buy. Exactly what I have been looking for!

I’ll grab some pics for you tomorrow and what I can tell you is we have gained over 3” ground clearance from most kits and 5” from another popular brand

Oh, you know, just enjoying some good ol fashioned social distancing. Nothing too crazy, just some projects in the garage to maintain some semblance on sanity, haha.

What's new with you? Family doing well? Any progress or updates on your truck?

Brother, I wish and thanks for asking but unfortunately I'm going to have to pass for now. However, seeing what's being accomplished here is awesome. It's damn good to see ingenuity being put to work to overcome obstacles. So, good on you to the guys who've had a hand in this endeavor. I'll be following this closely and look forward to possibly doing some business in the future.

On a side note, I'm curious to know what I'd be looking at price wise, when/if the time comes to pull the trigger. Is that posted here in the thread or available elsewhere?

Retail prices are in the group buy thread, and will be on the JDFab website soon. Group buy discount is secret, but impressive :)

There's going to be some great looking builds going on this summer, for sure.
