Just spent 8 days in the high desert Eastern Oregon/NW Nevada and just wanted to thank @81Trekker for such quality parts. The suspension was amazing and made allot of the other guys jealous while they got beat around all day.

Is anyone else have a problem with steering getting heavy when the PS gets warm? Running the Howe pump and in some hot low speed stuff the steering got heavy and pump whined occasionally at the end of range. Fluid all looked good.

Steering getting heavy or were your shoulders getting tired?

No the steering wheel was noticeably heavier, Any time we were in slow stuff for awhile. A couple of the flat fenders we were with kept us slow and I’m guessing the cooler wasn’t getting air across it

or maybe it wasn’t hot, any other reason it would get like that

If the idle is below 1000 rpm the steering will be noticeably heavier

Your idle speed is likely the issue. Two foot driving can help

I get some pretty good fade at times myself if things get too hot. I believe it’s actually more a rack issue than anything. But I will be doing a much larger cooler to see if that helps things. It definitely should.

    Speaking of steering.

I had already clapped out a rack at this point last year.

I have a few thousand hard dirt miles on this year and my steering is still tight as can be.

So those of you that have a slide rack, go spend the 50 cents on a zerk and do it.

The cap for the preload slider on the factory rack. It’s a stupid easy mod and it is 100% for positively sure making a massive difference in longevity.

Looking for a 3rd Gen DCLB in the Long Beach, San Pedro, or North Orange County for a couple hours to scan the frame rails. Need to compare to my 2nd Gen. I believe some of the holes We want to use in the side of the frame rail are different between 2nd and 3rd.

Waiting on a reply from Harry, but have any of you had a problem fitting the bracket for the cooler on the Howe pump on a 3rd gen?

Just got my Howe pump kit and the long black bracket seems too long.

    edited to add:

Due to my aux AC fan, I know I'll likely need to use some spacers on the top and bottom bolts.

Cmon…show a little ingenuity and find a place for it. Cut it. Drill it, do whatever it takes to mount it. You can put it anywhere upfront. That’s what I did. You don’t need Harry for this!

The kit is not designed to work with an AUX fan, you are going to have to get creative.

On another note, did you add that fan? I’ve never seen it before

Hey, now! No stranger to ingenuity, but it's an expensive kit and a hell of a nice bracket! Wanted to check before cutting into it!

Even without the fan the bracket lookes long--is this because once mounted it's not supposed to be 90 degrees? Noticed the top part of the radiator support is set back from the bottom support.

It's a factory AC aux fan for the AC TSB. Added it myself because no dealership local would help.

They all mount just about vertical, obviously with the fan in the way you will have to get creative and space the cooler out
