Meh. My stock rear is still checking super solid after 3 years on dirty sevens. Backlash is still well within spec and zero issues seen on the ring gear when I scoped it last week. These Toyota diffs are stronger than most think.

I mean, shock load is shock load. Unless I’m missing something here.

And for what it’s worth, mine is a non ELD rear. Which is considerably stronger than the ELD due to the girdled caps and slightly larger ring. Most guys popping ring and pinions seem to have ELD.

I was trying to not to get involved in this convo but........

Mine was an elocker and 3 broken ring gears and 1 set of blown spider gears along with 2 bent axle housings directly conflict with your assertion that they are strong.....you are wrong.....you need to get down here and flog your truck in our deserts then you will understand.

This is why im scared to go 37's without a fabricated housing. Maybe I should truss my stock axle anyways, lol.

Not denying what your terrain is. Never have. But come to find out, the stock non e lock rears hold up pretty damn good considering what their original purpose in life is.

I also run redline shock proof. Which I can tell you from experience, saves parts.

I was impressed with how long my stock rear held up on 35’s and 37’s given my truck lives in whoops.

Have you ever even seen that ring gear? It measures no more than 8” exactly. Not sure who started this 8.4” BS but it is absolutely false. The trussed bearing caps help tho I’m sure

I’m aware. But the ring gear is in fact larger than the ELD. Not by much but it is. ECGS also confirmed this. The girdled caps are 100% where the strength comes from.

At the end of the day I’m going 9”. It’s just the smart choice at this point. Especially considering we ride solo in pretty remote areas with no service.

But it is truly a wonder this diff is still givin er. 2 years of 35’s. And now my 3rd year on 37’s. This year it’s been used hard.

I truly believe redline shock proof plays a role in it as well.

But I’m excited to go 9”.

I’m just excited to have a running truck. When I
Blow my rear axle I’ll deal with it then. Until now imma fuck the place up on my stock housing.

My axle is from 2wd SR5. So i have the smallest I think. 529s and Eaton E-Locker additions have done me well with 35s. Clean driving helps im sure too. I definitely dont @Airdog it out there.

Clean driving is everything. Idc how tough you build stuff. If you can’t drive clean you’re still going to break it.
