Jeep makes the most sense, but I can’t bring myself to do it lol I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. A Rubicon with its Dana 44s and add hydro assist would be easy peasy though. Not a lot of IFS options. Would be curious to drive someone’s tundra rack swap just to see though. I just can’t imagine it doing what I’d want.

I’ve got a swingset/box/hydro assist coming up. Hoping to release it this year.

I’d be interested in seeing that. May be preferable to full hydro on the street.

I'm ifs running 37s and couldn't be happier with my steering.
Definitely think the Howe ps kit from JD fab is the key.
I have RCLT so I'm using a land cruiser steering rack and it uses 3 mounting points along with some double shearing.

First time crawling through some rocks my spotter was just shaking his head at me.
He said he couldn't believe I was just using one hand and I was like.. Oh yeah it didn't even think about it.
Steering is just perfect whether driving in town, freeways (went to 6 states last year), trails and rocks.

Interesting. I wish I could find someone around here with a similar setup to test drive.

Definitely better than hydro. Especially considering different ratio boxes are an option depending on your use.

Even with my Howe pump and the slide rack steering was a bitch with 37’s. Always a fight in rocks especially. But having assist in the mix now should be a big difference

    Well
Idk how quick a rubicon diesel gladiator blows up but if you’re a glutton for punishment there you go. That’s the only drawback.

FCA seems to have a lot of “here’s your vehicle back we don’t know how to fix it”
So if you DIY even better.

yea eventually I'll do that, just hate wasting their time answering a call just to ask about grease.
Until I started looking around I didn't realize PTFE based grease cartridges are not the most common

Superlube www.super-lube.com offers a few different types of grease in 14oz. cartridges containing PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and I have found at least three of them on Amazon. Is one of these what is used I do not know. PTFE https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=cc74...0cy9ncmVhc2VzLWdlbHMvcHRmZS1ncmVhc2VzLw&ntb=1

Yup, Superlube tubes are what i've used in the past for urethane bushings.
I did find 41150 and 71150 which both look appropriate but are not blue, so not what JD is using.
Also not sure which is more appropriate, even after looking through their tech sheet.

Hey guys who have done the UCA double shear gussets, do you just clamp down on the pivot bolt before welding and deal with forcing the UCA into a narrower slot later?
Photos are with a mockup-regular-non-locking nut finger tight, you can see the UCA is a little more “spread” between the legs which would be perfectly fine to install later if the double shear gussets weren’t going to get in the way.

2.25 kit on a 2020 if it matters.

I have a lathe so I’m going to turn some .020” axially over sized spacers instead of welding with the arm in there, but this mockup is scaring me a little that I’ll have to do something weird like ratchet strap the arm “legs” together for assembly after welding.

Gaps as shown currently are .190” on the left side, .090” on the right side

I got a chance to drive a 3rd gen yesterday that has 37s and the same RCLT kit and land cruiser steering rack but still has the stock power steering rack.

    Here's our impressions.

The other guy :hattip:on my truck with Howe pump
    -Not that much better
-Thought it would steer with 2 fingers
-Turning is fine at idle. No longer concerned about that
-Not sure its worth the cost
-If rating our steering from 1-10 this would add 1 point

Me on other guys truck with stock pump
    -Not bad
-Thought it was going to be much worse from what I heard described
    -Definitely like my steering better
-If rating our steering from 1-10 this would add 1-1.5 points
-My recommendation to someone would be get a crawl box 1st then maybe one of these.
Howe pump does make driving effortless for me.
Howe pump adds a lot to the overall steering and feedback.

"The other guy" is putting on some 40s he just got any day so we may do the test again with 40s

Ironically the big thing for me with the Howe was the feedback in the rocks. It's really nice not having the wheel constantly thrown around as you cross every rock in the garden.

But I'm only on 35s... already thinking about 37s though...

Honestly I would make a spacer to take up that gap and then weld them in, that’s a lot of stress induced to the arm to pull that kind of gap closed. Wonder why there’s so much gap on yours…might be worth a call to jd to ask about it. Last dual shear kit I had was a Dk set and they included some small washers to add to the outside of the uca when welding them in to make sure I had a small gap after to help with assembly.

I planned on holding off on burning them in until I called them on monday. the UCA misalignment spacer / seal ID surface spacer baggie had some washers in it too, but the tie-in to the tower gussets would end up with a big gap to the tower if I were to add spacers.

Did the JDf treatment up front a few weeks ago with the Howe PS pump and they even fabbed up a bumper for me. Couldn’t be happier to have the front and rear setup complete and look forward to a good break-in soon!

Anyone thinking of buying this kit?

Looks like the shocks I bought from @RonRon23 won't work on my AllPro/Depo it - apparently the shock body itself is longer on the JD spec shocks?

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like I might be better off selling these and buying new ones... damnit.

Maybe using the JD top hat and mounting them up higher like their kits would work. Does the other kit use cap over shocks?
