I was more so worried about hitting the front of the the square frame, and how the skid holds up.

Oh, they don't have a picture of it, but the skid isn't square in-front. It comes up at an angle like all other skids. It's just in two pieces that can be removed individually, not one, and they only picture it on the website with the flat bottom part on. One flat piece on the bottom and one angled piece on the front.

They sell them individually for people who are doing their own custom front end (cutting out the front crossmember for extra clearance, etc)

It sounds like they had a small batch of failed heat treats on the pins/nuts for the UCA. I got a call a few weeks ago and said to take it easy 'till they can ship me some new pins and misalignment hardware and to definitely not do any jumps. I imagine they called everyone who was in the batch. I took it out today and actually was pretty chill but not chill enough I guess and the nut popped right off the end of the UCA bolt despite being @ torque spec.

And well, you can see how that went for my UCA.

Did they say the timeframe for when the batch was bad? My truck was in there from end of Feb to end of April.

No. I got a call from Jesse a few weeks ago giving me a heads up so I imagine they called anyone who was impacted. I was one of the first customers (maybe the first?) to get the new JD Joint in the shop in late January.

But your inner bolt is what loosened and popped out. That’s the factory bolt. You can see it’s been loose for a while too. It wore marks in the bolt where the spacers rode.

Gotcha. Thanks for the heads up. I will shoot Jesse an email just to be safe. My kit was manufactured in Feb, so close enough for me to have some concern :)

Yeah, I'm waiting to hear back from'em because I was a little confused too. I checked tq specs on the frontend a few weeks ago and the witness marks hadn't budged either. Jesse has seen the pictures and said it's the same issue and he's shipping me new hardware. I guess I'll see what shows up.

I think the wear marks are from me limping it back 50ft from the dirt to the pavement after shoving it back in without a nut on the end, though. Whole front-end has less than a thousand miles on it.

That marking tells me, that bolt hasn’t been tight for a long time. That’s pure sign of spacers not being clamped down and spinning on the bolt. That’s the OEM Toyota bolt too. He’s referencing the outer uniballs as having a problem.

And once again, no test time on a newly released part.

    Just send it. It’ll work.

That bolt is torqued to 85ft/lb, right? I checked it on 6/27. I concede I wasn't entirely payin' attention when Jesse was explaining what the issue was but I wonder if the issue was with heat treat on the spacers and they were collapsing. I'll update when I hear back from'em.

Spacers should be 17-4 stainless. Pretty hard stuff. Either way the nut fell off and the bolt backed out. That alone takes time. Hundreds of miles time.

UCA is a bolt I always pay attention to on a regular basis. It’s one of the only bolts I’ve ever had come loose on me. The other ones I don’t trust are the lower ball joint adapter. Granted I’ve never had them loosen, I have bent them.

Yeah, totally agree. Like I said, it was 85ft/lb on 6/27 and I've put on less than 100 miles since then. Probably pretty hard miles but less than 100 of'em.
