Wish I had an answer as to how that could happen that fast. Even finger tight it shouldn’t be something that can happen fast. I don’t see it shearing simply because of the gussets being there. Dunno. But that’s gonna be a tough one to fix. Pray that thing isn’t twisted in your shock tower.

Nah it isn't, slides in and out freely fortunately. I was able to slide it all the way back through to get the pressure off the shock hose and brake lines. We'll see if I can get it all the way out in a bit.

ABS light is on but that's a problem for later.

I don't post often, more of a lurker, but I have read through this entire thread and damn there are some smart people in here that I have learned a ton from about the Tacoma suspension.

You got super lucky then. Because the room to smash that thing through is super limited. Assuming it probably took out the ABS wire in the process, but that’s an easy fix at least.

Confirmed with the shop that it’s definitely the ball joint that they’re worried about. Jesse saw the failure and just assumed it was related.

No idea how that nut backed off that inner bolt in sub-100 miles but I guess I’ll keep an even closer eye on’em. I assumed that bolt wasn’t OEM because of the length from the double shear but I forgot you pull the OEM washers to maintain the length.

I dont remember if it was this thread or the LT one where people were discussing springs spec'ed by JD recently.
my Fox shocks just arrived yesterday and they came with 500x18s as expected
Also they showed this on insta yesterday, should be their 1pc JD joint pins that eliminates the thin cross section of their prior misalignment cups. Hoping they can get these out soon!

If those miles are off the pavement it takes a lot less of 'em to work a bolt out of its hole. What's funny is replacing the nut with a zip tie around the threads will hold for days of similar abuse.

Jesse gave me some hints about this new pin design when I brought @RonRon23 old arms down to them to get refurbished, and that was more than a month ago. And its the only hardware left thats pending before my install.

Yup, new pin was installed on my truck, a few issues with other spacers but should be on and in the dirt soon.

Same, Jesse said the UCA pins and LCA pins were already sent out to the machine shop when I talked to him last month, but he didn't know which size was going to get completed first.
Hard to tell scale from the instagram post but I do see an UCA in the background so maybe these are UCA ones?
I'm hoping the LCA ones are done too as I'm also just waiting on LCA pins and new UCA set (that should come assembled with the new pins)

    well look at that!
Although what control arm is that? I haven't seen that gusset connecting the two legs on the Taco 2.25 kit before..

You do know they make many LT kits that are not Tacoma related….

That bolt comes red loctite from factory, so I would suggest loctiting it before torquing.

Yeah. I'll Loctite and throw a top lock nut on it. I had a tire shop put on my new tires literally an hour before this happened which makes me kind of suspect but I can't imagine why on earth they would have touched it. :bananadead:

That bolt has been through 3 separate UCA's and 4 separate mid-travel iterations so I don't actually know when the marring on the bolt from the spinning spacers happened and I definitely torqued it like 3 weeks prior so I'm super tilted tryin' to figure out what happened.

And yeah, the truck is basically 100% off pavement miles. Not trailered but trails are in my back yard.

Is it really mud if you aren't stopping on the way out of the park to figure out why you suddenly have death wobble and realized the entire rim is caked?
