Drop bracket lift and booger welds
Watch wider spacers might mean blowing rear bearings. I went to 2" and blew one side rear and went back to 1.25. I am running a total of 3.25 and def rub frame at full lock but it hasn't stopped me from wheeling the piss out of it.

I am actually only running spacers on the front since the rear doesn't have clearance issues. I double checked and they are actually 1.5"

I stacked both which gives me 2.83" BS just to check where clearance is at and it looks like I'll have to hack off the entire front bolt of the cab mount: garbage photo but the tire still isn't turned all the way into the frame

I'll probably make sure the cab tub fits at 2.85" BS and call it good. If I decide to run that wide in the future I'll address the body mount then. I'm not too worried since 17" Procomp steelies, SCS, and Battle born wheels all have 3.5" BS

Jake, this is what I ended up with after shaving the cab mounts on the frame. You can also see where I’m rubbing the frame where the surface rust is showing.

Looks like I'm about on par

    IMG_20190511_095258.jpg

Has anyone notched the frame to clear the tires? I frenched the frame on a Jeep I had to outboard the rear shocks so it could be feasible to do something similar but obviously not as extreme. It would have to be paired with some extra support welded on the insides of the frame. I'm nervous about the thought though

Yep, that looks like mine for sure. Just enough material left to clear the washer for the bolt.

As for frenching the frame, I personally don’t think it’s worth it running IFS, but if you had good access to the inside of the frame, it’s certainly doable.

Part of the reason I don’t worry about frame rub is that I really go out of my way to avoid doing much at full lock in 4wd. I know it’s unavoidable sometimes, but I also know that that’s when shit usually binds and breaks. On the road, who cares?

3.91s. boost makes up for it. still plan on 4.88s tho. was gona go 5.29s but i think unnecessary with xtra power. been busy with life and modifying my corolla which will probably be boosted soon too

    You’re turbo’d, right?

One of the things I’ve considered for the future is going down from 5.29 to 4.88 after integrating a SC and methanol so that I can drop some highway revs and still power up the hills and passes. With my crawl box, I wouldn’t have to worry about losing crawl capability with the lower numerical diff gearing either.

For now, being NA and not having installed my crawler, the 5.29s are awesome with the higher revs for the hills and lower overall gearing for off-road.

With a manual, you could probably get away with 4.88 and SC. If you were an auto I wouldn’t recommend it. It sounds nice to keep revs down, the problem is that once you’re out of the power band and ignition timing advances to 20 degrees or more it wants to ping. Methanol or not, closed loop fueling is not easy with these trucks unless you’re running a full stand alone ECU. Add heavy armor and big tires and it gets worse.

I think you’ll find yourself dropping a gear to keep engine speed up anyway, especially going up passes, etc.

That’s really good info, Dan. Thanks for the feedback. You’re on 4.88s?

There’s definitely nothing wrong with being a tad overgeared, especially when you have boost. Bombing up the passes right in the middle of the power band would be sweet.

I was thinking I'd want 5.29s with the 5 speed.

With 31s and 4.10s the truck is still a slouch with bumper/winch/skids/sliders/recovery gear/cooler all loaded up

turbo, aem, and meth injection. when boost is up to 12psi im spinning into 2nd as is. on the highway in overdrive even with 35s itl hold gear up most hills pushing about 3psi in closed loop at 2krpms part throttle.
