My dads got a 08 FJ that he put the eibach coils in the front to level it out. This gave him about 1.5" over the stock height. But I can buy the same eibach coils for my Tacoma that would give my truck about 3" of lift. So my question is, can I put his stock FJ coils in my 04 Tacoma and get about a 1.5" lift. I'll be putting adjustable 5100s on the newer coils. It seems like it should work but I haven't heard of anyone doing this. Anyone try it?

You might be able to, but I bet the ride would be super stiff. The FJ is a much heavier vehicle so the spring rate for those coils is (I'm assuming) much stiffer/heavier than stock on your tacoma.

Ok thanks, I'll have to look into the different spring rates and see if it's to much of a jump or not. Maybe I'd have to put a plate bumper on the front or something. I've got 883s on my runner with no extra weight and removed the sway bar and i actually thing the ride is softer then it was with stock coils. I wonder if it would be about the same.

The 3" Eibach coils I used w/ my Bilstein 5100's on my Tacoma had 112/620 printed on the side of the coil. So it's a 620lb coil spring rate.

Just in case anyone else's ever wants to know, FJ coils do work on our first gen tacomas. I put stock height FJ coils out of a 2008 on my truck with some adjustable 5100s set at 0 and they gave me about a 2" lift in the front. Front end feels about the same for stiffness as the stock coils and rides down the road good. I've only drove it about 5 miles so far but I'll post again when I've got a few hundred miles on them.

Good to know. I'm willing to bet this wouldn't be a good mod for people who would be buying the FJ springs - I bet fj parts are more expensive (but just guessig).

When I was trying to find info on them on the FJ forum sites people were just giving them away. Just had to pay for shipping. Most people don't want to keep their stock stuff just laying around so they toss it or post it on a website.

Is their any way you could measure from the ground to bottom of your front fender flares? I'm curious how your FJ spring lift compares to my stock springs with 5100's set on the highest setting. My ground to bottom of fender flare Is around 38/3/8" on each side with a top plate Spacers to account for the lean on the drivers side.

True, good point. Lot's of guys doing that with their Taco springs too.

Speaking of: I've got Kings and total chaos arriving tomorrow, anybody need 6+ year old 5100's? :D

    ha! really?

I was going to just give mine (5100's and factory coils) to my buddy, but maybe now I'll ask for something in trade, like his hi-lift jack he doesn't use...
